I took my vehicle in for an oil change a few weeks back. I walk into the store and should have known not to trust them right away. One guy behind the counter was busy playing on his laptop, which he tried to hide as I came in, but it was too late. The guy at the counter told me he'd get it right in and he did. He gave the job to the guy previously on the laptop. After awhile the guy comes up to me and tries to sell me an airfilter and battery cleaning. I said No thanks I will get it myself. He continues telling me how bad it is and how it could hurt my engine... I say no thanks, I will do it myself. Finally they give me my car back and I pay and leave. On the way home I stop at Pep Boys to buy an air filter and have them check the battery they put in a few months back. The guy comes out right in the parking lot to check my car because I had just paid over 90 dollars for the battery a few months ago and the least they should have done was clean the terminals!!. He opened my hood and said everything was ok. I said that sts down the street said I needed some battery cleaning and an air filter. He showed me that there was no dirt or anything on the battery. In fact it had some kind of red paint on the ends that were supposed to keep them protected. He said that is what they use at Pep Boys, so whoever told me that I needed them cleaned was ripping me off! I then asked him to check my air filter, which he did right in front of me. It looked pretty difficult to get to from the noises he was making. He finally got it out and low and behold it was almost new too!. What is going on here I say to myself. I get home and tell my wife the story. Apparently she had the air filter done a few weeks ago and didn't bother to say anything. The next day she calls from work complaing that I used the money she had in the center console she uses for tolls. I said I didn't touch it. I can only assume that that too was RIPPED OFF at STS when they had it in the shop!! That place will never get my business again and I will certainly tell every one who listens that they are thieves and ripoff!s
