Warehouse Service Center, Inc. SCD Services, Inc. Posed as the company that is contracted to service our new copier. Proceeded to rip us off on toner
31st of Oct, 2011 by User552932
We had a new copier installed with a service contract signed with a company we have used for years. A few days after the installation date, I received a call from somebody who claimed they were from the company who installed/services the copier (they correctly identified the company). She said she needed to verify the model number of the copier (she correctly identified the make), the shipping address (she had that correct as well), and needed a signature in order to ship us the toner. Since we were not given any spare toner during the install just a few days prior and since she had all our information, I was moronically suckered in. She also requested I inform my coworker who set up the installation and service contract (she correctly identified him by name) of a $60 price increase in the toner and that she wanted to ship us a spare toner before the price increase took effect. She then faxed me the order form for the toner, and asked me to fax it back to their toner distributor (Warehouse Service Center, Inc.). So I did so. The next day I received the toner. I now realize, much too late, that the toner was not only $400 more than the cost anywhere else, but the wrong freaking toner altogether! I've never been duped before, so not sure what I can even try next. The address comes back to another business altogether and the only other information I have is the Distribution Center it came from. Yeah, good luck shipping that back, right? I do not know how these people got all our information. Contact person, copier make, install date, address, phone number, etc. The only thing they did not have it seems is the model # and our fax number. Though, thinking about it now, they probably didn't want to raise any suspicions by giving me an incorrect model #. I suppose I'll have to work some hours off the clock to make up the $400 loss. Ugh. If only the warnings signs were so apparent at the time of my stupidity.
