US Search credit card cahrged for months culver city, California |
5th of Jan, 2011 by User563906 |
I requested a people search early in 2010 and was consequently billed for the service on my credit/bank card. In December of 2010 I found that I had been billed monthly for a 'membership' in the amount of $19.95 when I was doing an audit of my account. I never requested or desired such a 'membership'.I called customer service and talked with 'Peggie' (not actual name)in Outer Mongolia or somewhere and was credited with two months charges and 'membership' cancelled. I was made to understand that all fraudlent charges would be refunded. I made at least 6 phone calls to attempt to get the appropriate credit. Finally, my 'customer service representive said I would need to talk to his supervisor Antony who was conviently on break and I would have to call later, which I did. After reaching 'Antony' (whom I suspect was ficticous, I actually think that it was the same person) I was credited for the other fraudlent charges. I made it clear that I was aware that this was a ripoff and that I was not going to go away quietly. Yes, I did get my money back but I am sure others have not and I was fortunate to discover the fraud. I am submitting this report in the interest of perhaps preventing others from being taken in.

completelly uncooperative and oblivious to my problem. Be carefull do not use the service, information you will get is basic and charges endless! i signed up for 1 x search for $2.90 and 5 months latter still get billed $19.95 for same one and only search!

Intelius scammed me out of 39.95 for a search and did not provide any data other than the name I gave for the search. What a rip-off. Even if you opted out of the extra stuff they still charge you. Stay away from them it is a total rip-off. File a complaint with the BBB but be warned that companies can "buy" a good rating from the BBB. Beware. |
