US Reader Service telling me they are goin to put a wage attacthment on my husband.. Tampa, Florida |

I recieved a phone call from US Reader Service claiming I would only have to pay 11.22 a month. Now all of a sudden I am told I have to pay 42.80 a month and that I owe over 900.00 to this company. I have told them many times i need to cancel because my husband got laid off but they refused.
Today my husband recieved the phone call and they proceeded to tell him that if we dont pay by November 27 that they are goin to put a wage attachment on him for 100.00 a month till this 900.00 is payed off. My husband also told them that i never signed anything and that they could not take money from his paycheck. They said that it was electronically signed, and because we are married he is goin to have to pay.
I also tried to get on there web site but there really is no information there. I signed into the my subscription and found that now i somehow have more magazines that were ordered but neither i nor my husband ordered them.
So my question is how do we stop them from doing this wage attachment, and how do we stop them from calling and harrassing me? |

I have had problems with US Reader too. The call, claiming to be from a specific magazine company. I have to ask the caller several times what company they are with before they admit that they are from US Reader, and not Reader's Digest, National Geographic or whatever mag they are trying to renew for you.
Or they go down a list and ask if you are still receiving magazines you have never in your life ordered before.
Next thing you know, you get a bill for $600, and renewals for magazines you didn't need yet, and new magazines you didn't want. My dad got billed for $600, and ~2 months later, another one for over $800. The kicker was, that they claimed that he had authorized the order 3 months later, when in fact, he was in the hospital at the time they said the orders were placed. And one of the renewals was a magazine they had already renewed 3 months before!!! I threatened legal action if they didn't cancel the order. a month later, they called again to say we were responsible for the order, and we read them the riot act.
I just got a call today from "Reader's Digest", and after asking a third time, she admitted from US Reader, i told them to take us off their list.
They send subsriptions in my name to my brother's house, in his name to my house, and subscriptions to magazines to my dad in topics he had no interest in. US READER is the worst magazine scam company EVER!!! |
