UPS Store operated by Scot Stocstill UPS Insurance scam Johnson City, Tennessee |

I know you guys do investigative reporting, so I am sending this to you as a possible look into. On June 13, 2011 I took a golf club which was a driver to the Johnson City UPS store on State of Franklin in front of Wal Mart to send to a person whom I had sold club to through ebay. Prior to shipping I got a box for club from where I work part time at Warriors Path State Park golf shop. I put club in box with the head cover, some cardboard shaped to stiffen box, then packed tightly with wadded newspaper. I taped box tightly and dropped at UPS Store for shipping paying the extra value of insurance of which they give you $100 to start with, then I purchased $100 extra for a total value of $200. Box was shipped on June 13, 2011. When box was delivered on June 15, 2011 at door of person I shipped to the buyer opened box and club was broken, so on June 16, 2011 I contacted UPS as to what process should be. They said they would have to issue a pickup and examine package. Club was sent back to my home on June 20, 2011. So I waited and finally on June 23, 2011 I was told club was not properly packaged and insurance is denied!!! WHATTT!!!!! THEY broke club in shipping and I am out $200 ! What good is insurance?? Sold club for $162 for club and shipping charge, then I paid $13 Paypal fee and $14 ebay fee, and the $14 I paid UPS to ship club, that adds up to $203!!!! Nowhere does it say that if they didn't pack package insurance is void, Nowhere does it say if not properly packed insurance is void. I visited Golf Unlimited in Colonial Heights and inquired as to how clubs are shipped from manufacturer and owner stated that clubs come with club, head cover and packing slip, nothing else, so I exceded manufacturers packing at begining. Golf Unlimited also said they routinely get clubs in broken from UPS and now make driver wait while they open package, REDICULOUS! I also have friends at Dick's Sporting goods and they say the same thing about clubs being broken from UPS. I have tried contacting UPS corporate and they said file dispute through local UPS store which I have done, but after 30 days I have NO RESULTS! Owner of stores will not contact me or re-imburse me for my club and the long process. I called the store several times a week and am told same old tired story that owner has to file dispute. He's out of town, I haven't seen him, yada, yada. Why are they selling insurance they will not Honor? I just think the public shuld be aware of this scam and am tired of the run around by big business. UPS tracking # 1z4RW5670348031387 |
