Unlimited Wireless Knowinly sold me a phone that is totally useless Montgomery, Alabama

I bought a phone(AT&T Sony Ericsson Xperia X10a) for $220 from this company, and I requested for it to be unlocked , they agreed and told me that the process was going to take take 24hrs., so I waited. I came back the next day to pick up my phone, and the man in charge told me that he couldn't unlock it. He then gave the options of getting a refund, swapping it with another kind of phone or to come back when I'm finished with my newly refilled minutes on my other phone so that he can try putting in a h20 sim card, which is supported by the AT&T network. So, I told him that I would try doing that, and I left the store. When I got home I called AT&T(the phone carrier) and asked them if they could unlock the phone for me. They asked for the IMEI numbers, after I gave the numbers to them they told me that the phone doesn't have an unlock code( which means that it is totally useless). So I went back to the seller and told them what the carrier said, and they said that AT&T is lying. One of the sales associates tried using an AT&T sim card and h20 sim(AT&T supported sim network) and the phone rejected the sims. After the sales associate tried everything to get it to work, it still wouldn't unlock. I asked for a refund and the sales associate said that she can't refund my money. I told her what her boss said to me when he couldn't unlock the phone. So, she called him on the phone and he denied telling me that he can refund my money. So the sales associate refused to refund my money.
