Like others, received the post card solicitation. Went to the presentation in Petaluma, CA last night. Know enough about travel clubs to never, ever pay to join one. Have been to a few time share presentations and received a free night or 2 for a little bit of our time. Thought we might get a freebie of some sort at this event also. At the least, I'm mildly entertained by these men (haven't seen any saleswomen, yet) and their strategies. First awkward moment was showing my american express card along with my drivers license to attend. Pretty sure the checker was not able to memorize my wife's and my credit card number before we put them away. Let's hope, huh? Second awkward moment was when our personal sales rep noticed I had said my wife and i are retired and making 50k a year. The retire part is good. The 50k was not enough income to come to the event we were told. I said i don't divulge our annual income, which is in excess of 50k, for just anybody. He changed our income to a higher, more qualified amount. Whew. That was close. But, now we're in.
Presentations to these travel clubs have been well documented. So, no need for me to go there. I'll assume nothing different about this 45 minutes segment. $9600 up front and annual fee of $149 to join. Naturally, the $9600 is required at the meeting on your credit card. With a little of this and that, the $9600 can become $3600. We'll let you put that lesser amount on your credit card if you like. All I can say is wow. Can't wrap my head around the kind of person who would willingly do this. Imagine - there are people walking around among us, (I guess someone must buy or they wouldn't have a dozen people involved in the effort to put it on), who think this is a good deal. I'm still shocked a day later. How bad are these travel clubs? They make the second worst all-time "investment", time shares, look almost palatable in comparison. Of course, these are the worst. Furthermore, because the freebies you get for attending are worthless, avoid this scamming group.
