Travis Lawson [email protected] craigslist scam - cashier check scam Internet, |
2nd of Feb, 2011 by |
I placed an add on craigslist to sell a piece of equiptment. Was contacted by Travis Lawson, email address wantin to purchase the item. He wanted to know if the item was still for sale. Responded yes.
Travis then responded saying he was okay with the price listed and for me to send him my name, address, and phone number and that he would send a cashier check from his bank to me through a reputable courrier for the cover of the cost within 2 - 3 days. He also requested for me to kindly delete my post because he was seriuos and he wanted my honesty because he is a GOD fearing person. He also said he would be using movers topickup theitem on his behalfbecause he was out of the area for acontracting job. Once the check cleared of course.
I responded back to him that I would need to talk to him, thought something was fishy since he asked no questions about the item or to negotiate the asking price, for him to give me his phone number.
He then stated that he was in a remote area inSouth Dakota unable to call or receive callsand that I need to send him my info asap so he could process the check.
After googling his email address I seen it was associated with a scam which led me to this site. I kindly emailed him back and told him I was no longer interested in doing business with him. He has not responded back since.
It's a shame you can't trust anyone anymore.

I received the same email from him a few days ago...he mailed a check for a substantial amount more than what I was asking for the piece of furniture I was selling. I took it to my bank for an opinion on the check and they thought the situation seemed fishy, as did I. I wasn't going to go through with anything until the check cleared but he started pressuring me to be quick about it so I decided to look into things. That's when his name/email came up on a number of scammer sites. Thanks for posting these complaints about him so others will know not to deal with him! |

I had a recent run in with this man as well. The scam that he ran on me was extra sick in my mind. I was looking for work on craiglist when I saw an ad for a caregiver. He claims that his sister needs someone to help her out. When I contacted him about the ad, he gave me the same claim of being honest and needing someone honest. Now he is sending a certified check to my apartment, but when I confronted him about the fact that he refuses to call me, he got very rude and then stopped responding to me. This guy is a low life scammer. |
