19th of Oct, 2011 by User797773 |
I posted an item on Craigslist and received an email from Travis Lawson ( "Hello Is the item still available for sale? Travis Lawson"). ("I responded Yes it is, $100. Are you interested in the piano?") Travis responded ( "Thanks for the prompt response to my mail. I will be buying it from you so please kindly withdraw the advert . Please to be informed that i will pay you with a certified bank check and once you have the check cashed at your bank then i will arrange for the pick up at your place..I will need the following details to mail the payment as soon as possible. Name to be on the check____ Home address____ City____ State____ Zip Code_____ Cell phone #______ Please get back to me asap. Thanks. Then I responded with my information, after the fact of doing this something told me to check on line about these emails. Come to find out he has done this before, wishing I would of thought to check it out before sending my info. and I also responde with......("I've talked to my husband and if its not cash for the piano, we are not interested. Thanks. To many scams out there!") And now from a totally different email address AGAIN Travis (Barry Bone) responded, ("Thanks for getting back to me with your info.I have instructed my secretary to issue the payment to you, because am now out of the state for business trip. You will receive the payment through UPS or FedEx Courier services with the shipping funds,to cover the shipment of the goods bought. Once you receive the check, have it cashed and deduct your money for the goods and send the remaining funds to the mover, and the mover is also picking some other valuable goods (like household, furniture's and electronics set.) at the same city of your location,to my new apartment, that is why you need to transfer the amount to my mover.Deduct extra one hundred dollars($100) for your running around during the transaction period to cover the inconveniences that you might have engage during the process. Please let me know if i can trust you with my money.Looking forward to hear from you. Best Regards.") Then I finally responded with this last email to whoever this guy is......("Not interested, you r a scam artist, read all about you on line doing this to people and I will also be making a report so stop contacting me, I don't care that you have my info, what can you do with it.......NOTHING! Goodbye you "GOD FEARING MAN"!") The moral of the story is DO NOT TRUST THIS MAN!!!!! My gut feeling of this being a bad idea stopped me from dealing with this guy all the way, so im posting this before he gets to someone who maybe is not so smart or gullable........His whole thing is to send you a check for more then what you are asking, for you to cash it, send him back the remainder of the funds and then 2 weeks later when your bank finds out that the check is bad, you will be held responsible for ALL of those funds while he is living a fraud free life off of the money you are paying for!!!!!
