Travel Services Northwest Travel Services Hawaii Vacation Scam Gulfport, Mississippi |

An ad ran in our local paper classified that read: 2 Roundtrip Airfares to Hawaii $199.00 Each Leave Houston. The $199.00 is a LIE! With tax, I wrote a check for $430.00 payable to Delta Airlines. Heres the problemthe $199.00 should have read $599.00 each, after the airlines adds all their fees to it. I was originally told that I could stay in Hawaii for 3 nights and stay at any hotel; however, after they received my money, I was mailed the literature that stated that I have to stay a minimum of 7 nights and can only choose from 3 hotels. Called Delta and they have no record of ever receiving the check. The company that sold me the tickets took the funds directly out of my checking account via an electronic transfer. The man that sold me the tickets was David Bennett who worked for Travel Services/Northwest Travel Services located in Gulfport, MS. When I purchased the tickets, Mr. Bennett said if I had any questions in the future to feel free to call him any time. He never once told me that this purchase was nonrefundable. I left him messages every day for a month and he never returned my phone call. A month later, I called and talked to Art Thomas who said hed see what he could do in refunding my money and I never heard from him again. I have found out that this company is not BBB approved. So, dont get ripped off as I did. Do your traveling with a travel agency that is BBB approved and NEVER do business with Travel Services or Northwest Travel Services located in Gulfport, MS. They are a SCAM!!! |

We paid the same fee - received a package from Travel Services wanting an electronic transfer of money for a trip to Hawaii. The info did show three hotels - but I did not get to chose them. I will research the hotel sites before committing.
I also poke with Art Thomas
Not sure if the first person ever did receive a refund - |

We have used their travel service since 2004 for 3 trips to Hawaii. The first time was scary with my wife just giving our credit card number to someone on the other end of the phone that had ran the "$199.00" ad in the paper. But, Art has taken care of us for the most part over the years. Things are negotiable and he can't always get the best deal such as on rental cars, so make sure you check yourself. And yes, we pay the airline fees, but our basic fare is free which allows me to spend the money or points to upgrade to business or first class which at least on the return trip is very much worth it since the flight is 8 hours for us. He always sent us by mail the exact cost we would incur and would manage to get us some perks when we arrived at the airport and at the hotel.
If things have changed since 2010 we'll soon find out as we're preparing to book another trip through them. |
