Travel Around the World timeshare reseller TATW Failed to complete timeshare exchange transaction and left me with bills, no email, don't answer phone |

TATW or Travel Around the World is a company that claims to resell timeshares and manage timeshare exchanges. This company was recommended by Grand Solmar/Playa Grande and works with Grand Mayan vacation club. I exchanged a timeshare and was told that TATW would manage the transaction. I paid TATW ~$1800. July, 2010 and completed all of the necessary documentation requested by TATW. I was told the transfer would be completed soon. After several phone calls and excuses like, "the Mexican system is slow", and "It's not our fault" from TATW I've run out of options. When I was at Grand Solmar in April, 11, I was told by the Grand Solmar representative that 'everything was complete and taken care of'. Today, I received a bill from Grand Mayan for a debt TATW said they paid on the timeshare in Nov., 2010. I called Grand Mayan and there is no record of the payment or the transfer of title from me to TATW. TATW does not answer their phone, no email addresses are listed for TATW and i never received any information on accessing their website to follow the transaction. We have been ripped off by Travel Around the World, Grand Mayan and Grand Solmar. And I'm still on the hook for a timeshare I have never used at Grand Mayan. Do not trust any of these businesses!!! And beware.

I listed this report and even though TATW, grand solmar and grand mayan have contacted me, I'm still getting excuses. "it will take more time, ' and "Give me until next Tues. The staff person that does that job is at a conference." These are the latest excuses from John Bello (alleged CO of TATW). Really? And yet Travel Around the World, Inc states it handles "thousands" of transfers/yr. Promised email responses never arrived from Mr. Bello at TATW. Clearly, TATW, Grand Solmar and Grand Mayan all think I'm stupid. I will continue to write about these companies fraudulent practices and poor response to problems and bad behavior until the problem listed above is resolved. J.H. |

Another complaint is that the transfer fees are very high, and they start from $1800. After giving the first payment, more fees will be requested to the original owners, but the timeshare transfer will never be consummate. Costumer service is lousy, and people never receive answers from the company, only excuses.

I had a horrible experience at Mayan Palace!! Not only was the presentation 3 hours (promised 90 minutes), but they DID NOT give us what they promised for going. They offered a 4 night paid vacation, and we got NOTHING. We received what looks like a gift card, and they told us we would just need to call the number on the back to book. When we got back to home and called it was NOTHING. Not a vacation, not a discount for a vacation...NOTHING. We called and emailed Mayan Palace, and they did nothing about it. They gave us an email address, which we have never got a return email on yet. (several tries). The people on the phone say that is the only way to be helped... they are unwilling to help. Many people have been scammed out of money for attending a Mayan Palace timeshare presentation, so it could have been worse. I've been to other legit timeshare presentations, but this one scarred me. DO NOT GO...and if you do, be prepared for some super hard selling. They will change people on you 5 times before you can claw your way out of there. I recommend you to read this article on how most of the Mayan Palace timeshare sams are being committed:

Beware: This company goes by the name of Equity Acquisitions, Inc (EAS) these days. I traced to domain ownership back to the TATW. I suspect it's an Nth iteration of an outfit associated with Mayan Palace parent (Vida). We traded-in our timeshare credits for a program with Vida VacationPrivileges, and paid $7000 enrollment fee last month in Cancun Mayan Palace (should have know better not to trust these liars). EAS is handling the trade-in. EAS later came back and said they were backlogged and that we could buy back our shares for $20K. Nice trick. We haven't paid EAS anything, and will not be transferring over the title.
Info on EAS:
Owner: Georges Tarabusi
Address: Travel Around the World, inc
Av. Bonampak 4 y 5 Local 102
