Trave Guard Chartis Jumped through hoops to have claim denied. Internet, Nationwide |

Travel Guard or as I thought I had been using all these years was the travel insurance program with Walt Disney World. I now know this company is the "exclusive" provider but never again. Please note all the names we are covering here and this is not only disney but many travel insurance coverages. I have always, when I booked with Disney used this travel insurance provider - better safe than sorry I thought. This past year when booking my trip I was hesitant to add coverage - so I did not right away as it was always a waste of $ in the past and the budget was tighter. After a couple of calls I decided again, better safe than sorry especially should their be a major event. While trying to sell me this years plan the agent gave an example of something that happened to us in 09. She was , great go back and file the claim. Rather pleased. Not a major amount of $, but worth the effort. I request the claim form and began to go back through my files and obtained the replacment item information, receipt from the insurance purchase, Disney proof of travel and everything they ask for. Weeks passed and nothing, multiple calls and always needing something else and then had to wait for Disney to verify??? I had sent receipts from Disney. Then more weeks and now Disney made a date error with what they submitted so awaiting the corrections and it just went on. This was now almost 5 months later when I received my "denied" letter. It stated I had waited too long to file the claim. Now, the contract reads one year or as soon as possible. I state this was as soon as possible for me as no one aware of coverage and filed appeal. Again Denied. IF someone had from the beginning said oh, so sorry IF you had filed sooner you could have claimed the damaged cell phone , I probably would have scoulded myself. BUT - what they did was imply coverage and have me jump through hoops (hoping no doubt I would give up) and wait long enought that this years trip was completed, so I could not cancel this years plan, to decline the claim. I suspect many people think, as I did you are dealing with Disney - You are Not! I do have issues with them too as this is their reccomendation. Never again! Hope that $200 claim was worth it as I'll not be back and make sure everyone I can tell, knows. I have filed a formal complaint with the Insurance Comm. in what I can tell is their situs state and my own. Told about two weeks to hear and now 5 weeks later no reply. |
