Touchstone Imaging Denver Highline MRI Bait and Switched, this is good to know about our health industry. Littleton, Colorado
21st of Dec, 2011 by User553761
Bait and switched and then a really bizzare answer from Mike McElroy at Touchstone Imaging Corporate. I was quoted a price on the telephone for a CAT scan for $400.57. I explained to Touchstone Imaging that I wanted to know exactly what the amount that I had to pay out of pocket as it would not reach my deductible of $1000.00 at Rocky Mountain Health Plans. Touchstone Imaging quoted my referring doctor’s office this price and quote myself as well. I set up an appointment, the woman checking me in asked me to pay half down and I could pay the other half in 30 days, which I agreed to. As I was being prepared for the scan they had a nurse who was assisting the doctor. This nurse was not qualified to do what she attempted to do next. She tried to administer the dye into my vein, she put the needle in my arm and missed the vein and then attempted to move the needle around while it was still in my arm to find the vein. This hurt a lot and the doctor noticed that I was moving around from the pain and stopped her from continuing. The doctor pulled the needle from my left arm and administered the dye himself into the right arm. This company in my opinion does not hire qualified medical staff. I just received the bill for the other half of the invoice and it was for $364.34. I called Stacey at Touchstone Imaging and explained to her that I was quoted $400.57 for the procedure. She was not helpful at all and actually she was very short with me and asked me to call the office I had the procedure at and go over it with them. I called the office that I had the procedure and the woman who answered the telephone was not helpful at all so I asked to speak to a manager. Janet took the phone call and I explained to her the problem and said she would investigate and call me back. I did not receive a phone call back from Janet so I called her back. She said the quote given to me was just an estimate and since I was with Rocky Mountain Health insurance the price of $564.34 was the amount that I had to pay because that is what Rocky Mountain Health Insurance pays them. Again, I explained to Janet that I was quoted $400.57 and this is the amount that I feel that I should pay since I was up front asking how much out of pocket I had to pay for the procedure, and that Touchstone Imaging should honor the quote. Janet said that they would not honor the quote. I then received a telephone call from Mike McElroy for Touchstone Corporate office and he explained to me that the price I was given for $400.57 was for self -paying customers and since I had insurance that I had to pay the $564.34. Mike said that Touchstone would get in trouble with Rocky Mountain Health Insurance if they discounted the amount what they originally quote to me. He then went on the say that it would mess up my deductible with Rocky Mountain Health Insurance. I called Rocky Mountain Health Insurance and explained to them what was happening and they are looking into it. I will let you know what Rocky Mountain Health Insurance has to say about this when they touch base with me. I would not use this company again. They have a COO at Touchstone Imaging that the SEC charged with violations with another publicly traded company. This should give you some insight as to the people that Touchstone Imaging hires. In my opinion this company hires very low quality people to take care of your health and has below average services. Think about it! They have a COO that has been charged with SEC violations, they have a person in the office who quotes you a low price to get you to use their services and then misrepresented the quote, or possibly bait and switch practice, will not honor the quote, they have a nurse in the office that has no idea how to administer a needle into your arm, they have a person at the doctor’s office who refuses to work with me on a quote issue, then we have a person who at the corporate level tells me that he will get into trouble for honoring a quote and that the price that I was given was for self-paying patients.
