The Shutter Company Ltd - Yusuf Elansari Rob Andrew 50% (634) deposit taken for shutters in June 2010, no services provided, no response to calls, o |

I placed an order with this company on 16 April 2010 for a pair of roller blinds and some shutters. This was following a site visit from an individual named Rob Andrew, I placed the order and provided a deposit cheque on the day for 101.30 which was for two roller blinds, at that time I was uncertain as to whether I should progress with the shutter order so I only progressed with the order for shutters. I did not hear from Rob or the Shutter Company for a number of weeks / months and I chased this on a frequent basis until I was politely advised that my order was ready to deliver and fit. I was given an apology for the delay and advised that there had been difficulties with their suppliers. My roller blinds were eventually delivered and fitted on 21 June 2010 and at that stage I decided that I would progress with the order for the shutters as the price was good and I was advised that issues with the supplier had been resolved and I would have the shutters faster than the roller blinds. I paid the remaining balance for roller blinds and paid an additional deposit of 634 by cheque on 21 June 2010 in respect of shutters. Several months passed and I had not heard from The Shutter Company, every time I called I got an answering service (not the Shutter Company but a third party) and Rob Andrew's mobile phone was not contactable. I was advised that my messages were being passed across to the company and that I would be called. No calls have been returned. In January 2011 I finally got hold of someone in the office (Sandra) and advised that I was unhappy with the delays. I also advised that due to the ridiculously long lead times and no communication I would like to cancel the order and requested the return of my deposit. I was advised that this would be actioned and I would be sent a cheque for the refund of my deposit. To date no cheque has been received. I have been chasing this on a daily / weekly basis. I either get the answering service but on occasion I have been able to speak to individual's at The Shutter Company. I spoke with Yusuf Elansari who did not disclose to me his position in the organisation ( I have since been advised by Jasmine that he is a partner) I was told that this was in hand and I would receive a refund, further calls with Jasmine and Jacklyn have resulted in similar responses. I spoke with Jasmine today (11 May 2011) who was irritated to speak to me advising that she had been told that this matter had been settled and I had been refunded.... citing this as her reason for never returning my calls. I asked if I could speak with Yusuf Elansari and she advised that I should call back in the afternoon as the mornings there are very busy. The Shutter Company will not return my calls, remain elusive and unavailable, their responses are inconsistent. I fear that my 634 deposit will never be refunded and that other individuals will be ripped off by this rogue organisation.

First of all it is important to highlight and clearly stress that the above mentioned customer was given a FULL refund BEFORE this was posted. A refund to the amount of £634 which was the TOTAL value of the order. In light of the above we are surprised by the nature of the post.
While we at The Shutter Company understand your distress and apologise deeply for any inconvenience caused, there are many assumptions and conclusions made in the aforementioned post that we cannot and do not agree with.
However once again allow us to reiterate we have shown absolute good faith by our refund. And would be happy to resolve any outstanding concerns.
The aforementioned problems are an unfortunate exception to the rule that I believe plenty a company can attest to. And had no refund been given then your concerns would be validated. In light of the fact that we have not kept any monies paid I believe we have shown complete good faith.
We at The Shutter Company have a decade's worth of customer references that we would be happy to share with those interested. |

Well, well, well... where do I start. It seems that Yusef is taking on the whole world. I have to consider myself lucky as after 6 months of waiting and constant chasing of this scammer I have managed to get full refund of my deposit. This was only I have told Yusef that I would start civil proceedings against him and his mother - who was company secretary and therefore legally responsible for allowing the director - Yusef to trade via non solvent company. Do bear in mind that Yusef does not worry about CCJ's as his company has 13 registered judgements!!!
How many people were told porky pies about his problems with cargo, shipping agents - I was even presented with pictures:).
But his business is evolving - no doubt it will hurt more more people. Have a look at this:

and http://www.middleeastinteriors.com/section.asp?secid=365
You would never expect Yusef, yes Yusef, to be international authority on plantation shutters, would you:)
In a process he is tainting a name of another company http://www.thenewenglandshuttercompany.com/ who he allegedly is an agent for. Not sure they know who they working with - due diligence is highly recommended here. |

The guy is obviously elusive and shady at best, I am chasing my 50% deposit, now resigned to the fact that no shutter will ever be forthcoming. How do I go about getting my money back if he doesnt return calls? |
