My issue an IRS agent delivered a notice to where I lived of the back taxes that are owed and I was given a date to meet the IRS field agent at her office. I called the Tax Masters(National TV advertisement) explained my situation the representative said, they could help me with my IRS issues and I hired a Tax Masters to prepare my taxes for 2007, 2008 and 2009 and were to represent me with in all aspects dealing with the IRS and negotiate a settlement with IRS. The fee I was charged $10,200.00 The initial meeting with IRS the day of the meeting I called the Tax Masters to verify a representative was going to meet the IRS agent. I was astonished to find out no one was going to represent me and I rush to meet the IRS agent.
The IRS agent informed that my taxes will need to be filed before a negotiation and settlement can be resolved. I went to the Tax Masters to sign the taxes for the requested years in question in May 2010. The Tax Masters representative was to make sure the taxes were delivered to the IRS agent. I assumed that I am in compliance with the IRS and I discovered that my taxes were never received when the IRS garnished my wages. I called the Tax Masters and they tried to state me that I suppose to deliver the taxes. I told them why would I drive to your office and sign the taxes and leave the taxes with them, when I was told you the taxes were going to be delivered by y Tax Masters.
I had copies of my taxes the firm gave me but I could not turn them it had client copy stamped on the pages and the tax preparer did not sign the taxes. My concern was not to have my next pay check garnished. I was sent to the negotiating division of the Tax Masters and they needed a financial disclosure from me. I turned in the information to the representative and he states to me he cannot not go any further because he cannot find my taxes, when the taxes were finally sent to me too much time elapsed for the IRS not garnish my wages again. I went to the IRS myself to turn in the taxes and negotiate a payment plan myself. I could no longer trust my fate with the Tax Masters.
I called the Tax Masters and demanded a refund of approximately of money already paid $6700 and subtract the $700 for completing the taxes leaving a balance of approximately of $6000 and 4200 for wages lost, due to the Tax Masters not turning the taxes in a timely manner this leaves approximately a balance of $10,200. The company waived the fee of approximately $3700. I told the customer service representative that's a fee waived due to I negotiated the settlement myself my concerns are I want the fees paid back to me for services not render and my lost wages due to their incompetence for not turning in my taxes. The Manager that can make the decision is out of the office until Tuesday to make a decision on the funds that is owed to me. I fill I am not going to receive the amount owed to me and this has placed me into financial ruin. I goggled complaints against Tax Masters and there are several complaints of the services they did not provide and the stalling similar to my situation.
I wish had done my due diligence but assuming a national commercial by Tax Masters I thought they were upstanding business. However, they are not and they several federal lawsuits pending. I cannot understand how this business is still operating for misleading clients and doing the public harm.
