Take Me Home Small Animal Rescue
Brokers dogs - does NOT rescue them. All a big scam!! Do not buy from them.
29th of Feb, 2012 by caringfordogs
Barb Dexter picks up healthy dogs for cheap or free - even stealing them - from breeders and reselling them. She gets healthy dogs, and claims that the $400 or so that she charges to rehome these dogs is to cover the costs of the pet's recovery. It is simply a money-making scam. Many people donate money to this organization, which is just a scam and TMH doesn't really about the welfare of the animal as much as the money they can get for them. Barb will lie, bully. manipulate and even STEAL peoples pets just so she can turn a profit. Beware when 'rescuing' an animal, as the organization may not be as caring as they appear to be!! See if they have a license and are registered with the Better Business Bureau. You could just be paying hundreds of dollars for a dog that belongs to someone else.
So many people are against breeders raising dogs that it has become more acceptable to adopt a dog who needs a home. That's a good thing IF THE RESCUE IS REPUTABLE. There are more rescues who are really just "puppy brokers" than there are honest rescue societies. They have no conscience about what kind of 'hell' they make for the original owner, the dog and also the new owner. Dogs are not 'things' to be sold like merchandise - they need to be compatible with the people they live with. There are far too many dogs being shuffled around - it's disgusting the way they are used to make a buck. A good, reputable breeder does not 'drop off' their older dogs to a rescue like garbage. Many of these rescues are promising that the dog is going a wonderful home and that the new homes are carefully screened. In reality, they are picking up whatever dogs & puppies they can to post for sale for whatever they can get. Where does the' rescue' fit into this picture??? The dog is taken from a familiar, loving home and put up for adoption under false pretences. If you think buying a 'rescue' dog is a GOOD thing, be aware of the track record of who you are adopting from.
Buying from a reputable breeder who cares more about the dogs than the money is your wisest choice. You will get a written health guarantee and will know the history of the dogs. Please do your homework to save yourself a lot of vet bills and heartache. If people would stop buying from disreputable sources, they would go out of business. Pay a little more for your new family member and it will save you huge vet bills in the long run.

Completely untrue...how sad to slander someone who is trying to help abused and neglected animals rescued from puppy mills and money hungry breeders. Shame on you people...

Wow...that was some letter. I was fostering one of the dogs from Take me Home, , I fell head over heels in love with him but was in the process of leaving the country and was unsure about taking on the expense of the cost of the dog, along with the cost of necessary inoculations, air fares, entry and exit visas, mandatory vet visits and documentation for return. When his new adoption home situation didn't work out he came back into my life. Barb has gone out of her way to lessen my expenses and clearly is not in the business for profit. She is obviously a caring and compassionate person who is putting the best interest of the rescue dog first and foremost.

I can't believe that you would post this negative letter about TMH. I adopted a dog from there and during the trial period he was sneezing. I called Barb and although I was probably over reacting, she advised mem to take him to the vet and she paid the bill!!! I don't understand how or why you would bash Barb and her love for homeless dogs.. You should be ashamed of yourself. What is the difference, a rescue is a rescue. If I know anyone who is looking for a rescue that they WILL be directred to TMH and once I find out what rescue you are with, I'll be sure to advise them of your "issues" with Barb.
