Surelock Self Storage Storage Unit was broken into. Manager said some of their surveillance cameras don't work, False sense of security for tenants. |

I rented a storage space from Surelock Self Storage in Fairburn, GA. I stored my belongings there for a period of 2 month. In that 2 months my storage unit was broken into. When I brought this to the attention of the onsite manager, she took very little interest in what I had to say. It was very obvious from the damage on the storage unit that someone had used something to cut the lock I had put on the unit. Someone from the storage facility had called me to tell me that the lock was missing from the unit. When I went to see what had happened it was clear that someone had broken into the unit and they stole a 42" Panasonic flat screen TV. The manager at the facility claims to have watched the surveillance tapes and claims to not have seen anything. It wasn't until I filed a police report that she mentioned that some of the surveillance cameras don't even work. So the whole time she pretended to review surveillance tapes when in fact the cameras near my unit she reports to not have been working. How convenient for them. I asked her if there was insurance coverage on my unit and she told me well you didnt buy that and I told her it was never offered to me. She pointed to a tiny display that was positioned away from the main desk and in the far right hand corner which talks about the insurance they offered. So the average person would never even look at that tiny sign, let alone inquire about it when they sign up for storage. When I asked if I could at least have a month's storage free for all the inconvenience I have gone thru, she scoffed. She basically acted like my loss was of no concern to her. When I asked who else I could speak to she said her son owns the storage facility so basically don't bother. This place is a total ripoff. I paid for what I though would be secure storage. But now I know that their surveillance cameras don't work. They don't even have any onsite security whatsoever. Now I have no way of knowing who stole my television set because of the lack of security that was provided for my item. |
