Superbandz Super Bandz Does Not Pay Its Promotional Employees! Orlando, Florida |
3rd of Nov, 2011 by User952492 |
Do not work for this company. They do not pay their promotional employees. You will be asked to work 8+ hours a day, with no breaks or meals. Then you will be told that your check is in the mail, but no check will ever come. When you call to ask what has become of your money, no one answers the phone, even after multiple attempts. They claim to have been in business for many years, but after reviewing Orange County records, I discovered that they just became an LLC in February 2011. They use gmail for their company email address, which you cannot even access directly from the website. I am one of 6 known people who worked events for them in the past couple of months, and has never been paid. They are currently being investigated by reporters in both Chicago and Detroit. It is likely that more people will come forward with similar stories, once word get's out that they are a dishonest company that cheats people out of their money. |

I completely agree that working for this company is a BAD IDEA! I worked for "Superbanz" in Atlanta, Ga for the Big South Volleyball Championship and have yet to be paid. I worked for 3 days working almost 30hours on my feet giving "strength test" which took a lot of energy. The pay rate was only $100 working for 11 hours (which ends up being less than $10 a hour) Anyone in promotions working as a brand ambassador knows the average hourly rate is $17-$25. The only reason anyone took the job was because at "training" (which was unpaid) Joe said we would get a commission off the bands we sell and were told we get an extra $100 for every 40 bands we sell and that the average number of bands most brand reps sell was 80. After the end of the first day it was CLEAR that is was impossible to sell 80 bands, let alone 40! I was the only one who decide to show up all the days and times I committed to. The other BA's flaked because no one wants to work for $9 a hr since the commission was impossible. I felt bad for them (Joe and Nick) so I decided to be a woman of my word and stick it out. At the end of the last day I was told "you're all set, I have your stuff for payment" yet I had filled out nothing. I let them know, I didn't fill out anything & was then handed a W9 and told I would receive payment in the mail. I was given no contract, I asked why didn't they have me sign a contract, and Joe said he didn't have one. At that point I had a bad feeling about this company, I then told Joe I wanted a contract. He had his son Nick draft up a contract and I had them both sign it (Joe and Nick). I was the only brand ambassador who asked for a contract, I'm smart enough to know you don't do any work without a signed contract, especially if you find the job on craigslist! My contract states that I was to be paid 7 business days from the end of the event. It's been way past 7 business days and I've been given every excuse in the book as to why I haven't been paid yet. First I was told payment was sent to the wrong address, then I was told it was lost in the mail, then I was told it would be deposited into my account several times. I've been given the excuse from Joe saying he's out of town, busy in meetings, can't make it to the bank etc. He has answered not one call of mine but he sporadically responds to my text from time to time when he's giving me an excuse or lying saying he's going to deposit my money. I'm now taking legal action. If you've worked for this company and haven't been paid speak up. If you are considering working for this company only do it if you enjoy working free. |
