Buyer beware! Sun Devil falsified diagnostics to sell me overpriced parts and services. After receiving an oil change from Sun Devil they gave me a report saying that my power steering pump was seriously leaking and needed to be replaced at the cost of more than $800. I was also advised that if I waited until turning made noises that other issues would cost in the neighborhood of $1400. I was advised that my breaks were 70% worn and that it would be dangerous not to have the pads replaced very soon. I called two other auto service providers who estimated the replacement of the pump would cost in the neighborhood of $240 since all pumps are rebuilt. One service provider suggested a diagnostic since a crack in a pump is rare and found that my power steering pump was not cracked and the minor leakage could be replacing the sealant rings for about $140. They also found that my breaks were only 40% worn and recommended changing after another 10K miles. This is a flagrant use of fear based marketing for un needed services. Although customers are dependant on service providers who have specific technical knowledge, we should not be manipulated into buying over priced and un needed services simply because we are seemingly vulnerable. Sun Devil advertises accountability on their website and sites their membership with BBB. I would strongly urge the BBB to hold Sun Devil accountable for their dishonest sales practices. I would strongly urge Sun Devil home offices to hold the Val Vista station accountable for providing untrue information for the purpose of gaining a sale.
