Summer Winds Resort
Summer Winds Resort Services LLC Bait and con ! Branson, Missouri
25th of Nov, 2010 by User557342

On January 15th 2010 I signed up for information only with a Summer Winds Resort Services information booth. On 18 January 2010 I was contacted by Summer Winds via phone. I was sold a 3 day and 2 night vacation package with perks for dinner, and entertainment. One of the requirements for me was that my annual income was $40,000.00 a year. I told them three seperate times I did not make $40,000.00 a year. All three times I was told not to worry about it. I let them have $139.00 from my account for the vacation package. I later received a letter from them telling me how to set up my vacation. The letter also stated the requirements for me. The ones I was previously told not to worry about. On November 17th I contacted Summer Winds to set up my vacation and was advised I could not do it as I was not qualified as per my not having an annual income of $40,000.00 a year. I feel they lied to me and deceived me to get my money and had no intention of giving me the vacation promotion. Bait and con ! They also told me they give no refunds. I have since talked to others who said they had similar experiences with them.

We went to the conference for Summer Winds on 4-29-11. It was to be a 90 minute interview. It turned out to be a 3 hour high pressure hard sell program. It appears that the property and program that they are selling is far, far overpriced. Once they get your $139.00 entry fee, there is no getting your money back. The demands just keep getting more and more. This is a bait and switch con from the word go!! The 29 year old of the sales person has no concept of the aging process or of the needs and interests of the senior citizen and senior's vacation wants. They are only after selling their program regardless of what the prospective customer wants. They were on the very edge of rude when their program was declined. Once the program was declined, the program price came down drastically which just goes to show that it was grossly over priced in the first place.

The biggest problem with this scam is that the math doesn't add up. The sales pitch sounds good because they tell you that you are buying a share of the comany and will receive a deed as part owner of a vacation home in a luxurious gated community. These homes are cottages of about 1000-1200 square feet with absolutely no yard. You are literally close enough to spit on your neighbors. When I asked how many "deeds" are sold for each cottage I was told 50-52 at over $38, 000 each (the offer we received). I told the sales person the deed wasn't worth the sales price and she responded that the homes are appraised at 1.4 million each. Really? Maybe stretching the appraisal a bit. I'd say the sq ft and no yard maybe more like $400, 000 but nothing close to 1.4 mil. Moving on to the real math. 50-52 deeds per cottage is around 2 mil per cottage and addin $500 a year in maintence fees which includes taxes and insurance is over $25, 000 a year. Also don't forget 15% interest that's over rated for any mortgage. This is not a deal that is better than anything you will ever have an opportunity for as they boldly claim. It's a total rip off. I'd kindly like to add that when my questions raised pointed out to the sales person how obvious the rip off is she quickly escorted me off the property to avoid anyone else overhearing my statements. She knew we were not fools!

I was contacted today, 3/19/15 by Jared B. at the company who told me that he got my information from a home show where I entered a drawing to win a Honda Civic, and tried to sell me a 'deal' with three days, two nights stay at a hotel, 2 show tickets (Branson), breakfast every day and one dinner on them, along with a VIP card, all for $139. It also included a hotel voucher for two nights anywhere in the country. We had planned a trip down to that neck of the woods in May, so I figured this would be a good deal for the hotel stay. I talked to my husband after I made the purchase who informed me that there is usually a required 4-hour tour of some sort in order to get this deal. So I called the booking number to discuss some dates, and asked about a required tour. The lady on the phone said that it should have been mentioned during the sales pitch, that there is a required 90-minute tour of Stormy Point Village. When I said that this was not even mentioned, she passed me back to the manager that confirmed Jared's sale, Scott D. I explained that this was not mentioned and that I wanted to cancel my order. He said that it ws too late, there was nothing that could be done, and that he could reduce the charge to $110 and make it three nights if that would make me feel better. I told him I wanted all of my money back, and he got really angry. He said that I needed more time to confirm with my husband. I told him I did not need more time, and that this was the last call I was making to them. Scott said that I would get it charged at least $.01, and that I may see a refund of $138.99 within 10 business days. Then he hung up on me. I have a feeling I'm completely out $139.
