I requested a quote from Studio Chic Design based on my
specific specifications I was quoted a price and after paying was informed that
my price didn't include any of the things that I had originally asked for
and that I would have to pay more to get
things that I had originally requested a quote for in the first place.
I was told by the designer that she didn't have WORD so
was unable to look at my specifications this was done after the fact weeks
later I believe that I have been
scammed by this designer I have been waiting for my finished product since Nov
and it is now Jan and the project has yet to be completed and was just left
unfinished.
Studio Chic Design
gave me a half finished product and promised to finish it my original specification on Dec.
20th I have since been waiting and have
contacted the designer on numerous occasions and she has not returned any of my
correspondence and has not made any further corrections to the unfinished
project that she left me with I
contacted her to let her know that I would like her to finish what she has
started or refund my money so that I may find a new designer.
I explained the importance of this design to her and that
fact that my page needed to be done to certain specifications I have a host of
time waiting for her to complete this costing me the ability to attract
advertisers because of the lack of functionality with the site that she has left
me with.

| Hi, I just wanted to respond to this. I too was a victim of dishonest business conduct from this designer. I purchased label design packages from her and discovered her work is nothing how she describes it to be. She owes me money for labels she never designed and has been very inconsiderate as to not bother responding to any of my emails. This woman is a fraud. I will be reporting her to the BBB. |

I met Dionne on etsy. She responded to an alchemy request I had for a web design I needed completed by March, 2011. She stated she was unable to do the transaction through etsy due to 'technical difficulties' so I was to pay her off-site. Based on her good feedback I thought this would be ok. It is now mid July 2011 and she still has not even finished the final draft for the homepage, which was only 1 of 10 or so pages she was to design, as well as a blog, private member forum and other features.
What has happened since has been a nightmare. She states on her website that turnaround for draft revisions is aprox 1-4 days. On average it would take her a month between revisions. Never an apology or explanation for delay. She gives promise after promise of 'I'm finally catching up and will be on schedule again, thanks for your patience' but it never changes.
I am out of 3-4 months of income because my business is dependant on internet sales. Self employment is all I can manage after my cancer diagnosis. She knows this and doesn't care. She leaves things go on and on so the time limit of filing a PayPal dispute expires and leaves you simply screwed. I will be persuing a refund through my credit card company, which allows 90 days from the last promised completion date by Dionne.
Her etsy account StudioChicDesign was deleted by etsy. They can't disclose why, but we know why. She has recently started a new etsy account as JunkStudioShop http://www.etsy.com/shop/JunkStudioShop?ref=seller_info where she includes a link to her StudioChicDesign website.
Get your PayPal refund while you can, and warn others to steer clear of this scam artist! |

I have let this report go on long enough without sending a rebuttal but I think it is time. Because consumers are free to post and write reviews about small businesses whether true or false I'd like to go ahead and makes some statements.
I will comment based on who I THINK you are. I could have gotten the identity wrong or you might even be someone I've never worked with.
I am a very honest person and do not wish to scam with anyone. I have a fear of GOD and I do my best do be a good and honest person. When it comes to custom graphic design, it is not simply a "let me get this shipped to you in morning kind of thing". It is a process that takes time. While I have had several computer issues in the past few months which overwhelmed me and put me behind schedule I am constantly working. Just because you don't get a response back in a few days does NOT mean I'm not working on your project.

@Angrygirl - The labels I designed for you are awesome. And we both know that. I only offered you a partial refund on some of the printed labels because I was so behind schedule due to one my computer crashes. While I know you are upset that I was unable to get the labels printed quicker there is no need to act like you didn't like the designs to make me look bad. Simply stating I took longer than expected was enough to tarnish my reputation. You have given me several praises on them and I know one of your wholesalers loves them as well. And to say NEVER designed is inaccurate. I designed over 75 labels for you. I've seen the pics on your site and they look great. I've already stated this numerous times but my apologies I was unable to get the prints to you sooner.

@Violet I had no idea you had cancer. I only knew you were ill. I have prayed for your health several nights so I'm a little upset that you would say or even assume such things. In regards to your project I have not heard from you in weeks. I have sent several emails to your assistant without a response. Its a little unfair to say I haven't finished your project when I haven't heard from you. I am not a scam artist and do not wish to steal anyone's money. I sent you and your assistant several apologies. Lets keep things honest please.
@ User153108 - original poster. This project was quoted for a certain amount of work. She wanted more than what she paid for. Custom graphic design takes time and its only fair I'm compensated for my time. Now that my business has grown, I do not have the extra time in my day to give away many free services. I do as much I can with the time I have.
In summary, my computer issues looks like they are gone for now. I work 16 hours a day and do my job the best I can. My turnaround times are listed on my site. If extra time is needed or another arises I will let you know. |

If only I had seen all of these before I ever got involved with this girl several months ago. She may be the most unprofessional business person I've ever had the opportunity to work with; I've lost so much sleep over my dealings with her in the midst of starting up my business, which is stressful enough. As a small business owner like you stated, Dionne, you must understand the importance of owning up to what you promise and if you ever want to be truly successful, you need to understand that the customer is not your enemy; you are not the only one around who provides your service; and if you don't take care of your people, someone else will. We all understand being busy, but there is zero excuse for blowing off the people who have paid you their hard earned money. Finally, even if you don't live by the idea that the "customer is always right", at LEAST be prepared to make a fair assessment when handfuls of people are calling you out. It is not likely that their complaints are all unfounded. Is it the customer's fault that you're busy or have computer issues?!

Dionne Broughton of Studio Chic Design has a very long history as a con artist. She has had numerous businesses, that she starts off doing well enough in to get a good reputation, then she scams people, bails and starts a new business. A basic internet search will reveal her trail.
She is now getting ready to launch her new 'fresh start' endeavour, with her mother and sister as "Broughton Events And Design Studio." http://broughtondesign.com/aboutus.aspx It looks like Dionne will be the designer behind "The Stationery Suite" by Broughton Events And Design Studio, offering such services as wedding websites, stationary and such. http://www.thestationerysuite.com/
Shall we wait and see how long it takes her to start screwing people in this latest business? Or do we nip it in the bud by spreading the word wherever she tries to promote herself next? I would wager none of her 'businesses' have been legit. I bet the IRS would appreciate receiving an information package about this one, and all the business earnings she has not claimed :)

| So, what exactly has Dionne Samone / Dionne Broughton been doing with her time lately? Contemplating her dispicable behavior? Turning over a new leaf? Getting down to finishing people's work? naaaaaah... You know, just because you have made a few clients happy in the past (because you need a few of those to bait the subsequent suckers in) does not take away from the countless people you have conned and cheated since. Trying to cover your tracks in this way just further reveals what a snake you are. You are seriously the biggest POS I have ever met. Do the right thing already. Refund people you have conned or just do the bloody work! The more time you spend trying to hide your tracks, the more I will invest into making sure everyone knows what you are. EVERYWHERE you go, and no matter what new identity you assume. |

I finally got a full refund ($700) from my credit card company after filing a claim against Dionne Broughton of Studio Chic Design! woohoo!
Dionne, yes, please let's keep things honest. You did know of my cancer, and that I needed this business to support myself. We have the emails to prove it. Those few weeks you spoke of my not getting back to you were in July, (many months after you should have already finished the site), when I was having discussions with my credit card company regarding the steps I needed to take to get a refund from you.
I have heard excuse after excuse from you with no apologies, only attitude. I had a gut feeling about you the moment you told me you were having 'problems' with your etsy account, and needed me to pay you off site. Now I find out you have had several etsy accounts deleted and banned. I should have gone with my gut.
I found it extremely revealing that while you were taking an average of 3 weeks for revisions, due to what you claim was because of computer issues, moving etc., you were still actively posting sales, specials and services on various sites. If you couldn't keep up with current clients, why were you out there actively seeking new clients you knew you could never handle?
You seem to have such a rich portfolio, but after taking some time to track down the actual sites, the vast majority did not exist, while several others were of yours and your family's businesses. Gee, nothing fishy there.
I should note that it took my new designer ONE WEEK to accomplish what you did in 8 months! That speaks volumes to your level of incompetency. Everything about your actions and practices reeks of con artistry, and I am so glad to be finally free of it from you and to have my money back! |

So now Dionne has renamed her business to 'Studio Chic boutique graphic design' in hopes that people won't connect the two names when searching for her online and find all the negative reports about her. For all of you that are still waiting for your designs after months of excuses, rest assured she has been busy...redesigning HER OWN website.
