Strayer University Financial Aid Fraud Ft. Lauderdale, Florida |

I transferred to the school from the a reputable university. I really should of read the 'million' bad reviews before i actually registered at this school. I didn't! and now im like the many others who regret that decision. The admission people are friendly and welcoming at first, but as soon as they get you registered the problems and issues arise. They register you for classes and you find you cant drop them unless you chase about all day with emails and phone calls hoping that one person will listen and drop the class for you. The most frustrating and concerning is the financial aid office. Again friendly prior to registration but they never reply to any emails or phone calls. Christina Alcindor is the FA officer. I have sent 27 emails and 13 phone calls all of which have gone unanswered. I am in class but still have no idea on the status of my financial aid, that has been left on pending for the last month or so. A far cry from my previous school. I have no idea when my disbursements will be and now have to apply for private loans to cover my educational expenses that the FA was meant to cover. I read on some reviews that some students don't get their aid until well in the semester some even after!! ..Some allege they hold on to the aid in occur interest, some allege its to show shareholders a profit for that quarter. Whatever their reason, i just want them to respond to the communications they receive, i don't think that is too much to ask. Stay clear of this 'school' (i use the term school loosely) they are incompetent and will only give you a degree in 'Stress' maybe even fraudulent in their FA practice. There are so many complaints about their FA practice there should be a class action law suit against this school. We have all incurred unnessary financial loss thanks to their unethical practices. |

i know this is mt fault for not being educated about the long-term/big picture implications of borrowing to pay tuition. that being said...
i earned a business degree from East Carolina University (Greenville, NC) and had only $20, 000 is student loan debt after 9 semesters. I currently have 2 courses (quarters) left at the Strayer RTP campus and have over $65, 000 worth of student loan debt somehow.
#1 I feel like the process at Strayer is designed to take advantage of frustrated working adults who think that getting an advanced degree will prepare us for career growth.
#2 I feel like the education I have received is completely worthless! 4 hour classes that start 20-30 minutes late because the professors prefer to consider the classroom a social gathering rather than a classroom. 45-60 minutes worth of breaks for "dinner" 15-30 minute early dismissals, and totally useless PowerPoint presentations.
#3 The texts that we are "required" to purchase are created by Strayer and are totally unrelated to the curriculum that is taught. Each book is over $120 and is rarely used for any assignments in the classroom, antiquated, and admittedly worthless by the professors.
i kept expecting things to change "after this quarter when I start taking more advanced classes" but it continues to be a total waste of time and I feel like I have been fully taken advantage of by this organization. $65, 000 for the information I've learned at Strayer is outrageous! I honestly feel like there should be an investigation into the process and culture of Strayer to forgive some of the outlandish tuition and fees. |

Strayer is a scam school now. I am not even enrolled in their school (I did meet with them to look at possibly enrolling) at which time they took my personal information, "railroaded" me into two classes, and have been taking rather large amounts of money (max allowable) from FAFSA in my name. I get information from Sallie Mae about every 4 days or so to inform me of some supposed refund from a 6 month old loan that they took money on in my name for "my tuition" and this continues to this day even when I have told everyone I do not attend Strayer and at this point I never will.
I am still hunting for a lawyer that can help me go after these crooks with very little success. |
