ST Johns Powersport 1100 Vstar worries! Poor service, Poor attitudes, Poor every thing! Palatka, Florida |
6th of Oct, 2011 by User461091 |
Hello, and welcome to my two weeks of frustration! I have a 2007 Yamaha 1100 Vstar. with a little over 8000 miles. Were to begin. Lets start at the beginning. Its was the winter of 2011 in January. I was looking for a nice bike, A cruiser style. I came across a 1100 Vstar for sale. I had looked at so many types of cruisers, From Yamaha, Kawasaki, And Honda. This one seemed to fit the bill. So I looked at were the bike was, And behold it was right next to my town! Only about a 20 minute drive, And was in my price range. So I called up a buddy and we drove in to town. We went to St johns powersport. The bike was nice only a little bit of rust on the chrome. No biggy I and my friend said. That and the bike looked good on me! Only problem was I couldn't take it for a test drive. I had a normal license then no endorsement. So they couldn't let me take the bike out on the highway for insurance reasons. The sales staff was nice. As they should be. And my cousin came over to see it right before I bought it and said it looks good on me as well. I was sold. I bought the bike there that evening and drove it home. Yes yes I know no endorsement. Unlike some people I had been driving motorcycles, For years ever since I was 10 on my first dirt bike. Well I got legal fast and got my license updated as soon as possible. I went to Daytona for a good long ride. Got off the bike to pump some gas... Whats this? Oil? On my rear drive train? Whats going on! So I drove back to the dealer ship pronto! See I was told by the sales department that I had a warranty, That lasts till the end of this year. So when I got there I talked to one of the mechanics. He looked at it and said Yep its leaking gear oil. So i looked at him and said "What can cause that in a bike so new?" He looks right at me, And says "More than likely? The bike was dropped" bike was dropped.... BIKE WAS DROPPED!!! I looked right at him I was so crossed with him that he would say that. He saw it on my face and then said it could be over filled. I quickly stated I haven't touched the bike internally since I got it. I was angry. For a sec, But I got over very quickly, And asked him to check it. It was over filled he said. So he cleaned it up and I was on my way. A few months down the road I noticed something with the starter binding. Well... I guess It's a good time as any to take it to get it's service done. Here is my two weeks of hell. I went there on a Thursday, And Talked to the service manager. I think his name was Dave. See there was a new problem. It was coughing up oil out of the air filter. I told Dave this and went out to check it. we walk back in and he says that the oil can be seeping around the rings of the piston and getting in the air box. In the back of my mind I'm saying "NO SH@*!". So I kindly ask why do you think it's doing this. I knew the answer. He said More than likely some one over filled it. I said who? So He looks at me and smiles? "WHAT ME?" I thought this guy cant be serious he is blaming me. I looked right at him and said I haven't open this bike up besides to but gas in it. On top of that Your sales told me you would check it right before I bought it! He looked so smug I could bash him and he stated. "The owner is just as responsible as we are to check it" Really he is blaming me. For not checking the bike 7 months ago? BEFORE I BOUGHT IT! I was so mad I looked at Him, And said what ever. I'm wrong. Now can you change my oil, And do a service check on it. He said sure being all smug like, As he typed a way on his computer. I looked at him and said "Are you guys busy this week? If so I can bring it in next week." This was my move to look for anther bike shop. So he said yeah that's a good idea. Told me to come in next week like it was his idea. What a a**. One week later. I couldn't find a bike shop near by that could do it. Well that was a certified Yamaha service center. since it was under warranty. Sigh so I took it back... To them. I knew it was a mistake. I called to saying I was going to take in to them on Wednesday....? Know one answers the phone. How odd? FIRST CLUE! Any ways called in Thursday. No answer? WTH is going on? Went there Friday. No service manager? But the sales guy at the front desk helps me....At the service managers desk? SECOND CLUE! Moving on. He takes the bike and say the service was gonna be $288, And it will be Done on Saturday. So I left it there with them and went home. Saturday rolls around. No phone call? I call twice. Sigh... They finally pick up It's Dave And he tells me he is short staffed and it will be done Tuesday. Well I call Tuesday nope not done. Call Wednesday It done gawd finally! BUT there is bad news. Should Of saw that coming. He tells me that the starter clutch is bad. And can go out at any time. And my rear tire is so bald that It's dangerous. I told him no Because of the Ungodly time it took them to change my oil. And I even stated that it was under warranty. I got no response out of this guy. So I called back to tell them I'm coming in to pick up my bike, And not to touch any thing. I come in and He "STILL HAS THAT SMILE ON HIS FACE!" Man I never met some so smug in my life! He looks And says so happily that my bike is covered and they can fix it for free. The starter that is..."I told you that you smug a@@" I said in my head. So what ever I said fix it. I asked when will the bike be done? He said talk to me next week or next Friday. I call them back Friday. No big surprise It's not done. I call back Saturday nope. He says call Tuesday Nope still not done Gawd O Mighty! Wednesday they call me it's done! Seeing a pattern here. >Wednesday< The trouble Is coming! I go in so glad to get my bike back, And guess who I meet It's Smiley Dave. Sigh... I pay my bill for the oil change, And leave. I look my bike over, And notice my mirrors or off from were I had them the last time I left them. Hmm? I reach out to adjust them, Whoops It's Loose! WTH? I tighten back on by hand, And say "I just want to get home I'll tighten this when I get home." So I put it in first gear, And off I go. I get to the stop sign right out side of there parking lot I notice the engine is ideling to high? What did they do to my bike? I take off and go to shift in to second?! !!!!! I CAN"T SHIFT !!!! I just pulled out in to evening traffic, And cant speed up I almost get rear ended. I can't get my foot under my shifter? Good thing its a rocker type or I would have been nailed. I'm shaking at this point, And Angry! I drive back. I walk in Angry as hell. And press the call button for the service manager. Of course no one comes. This older man, Don't know his name. Asks me what happen? I said as comely as I could. Said "You almost had a huge lawsuit!" He looks at me and says "Uh O!"....... Uh O? Really I almost get smashed and that's what you say? Like I'm a child who got a booboo? I told him my shifter is to close to the foot plate, And Can't shift up. He looks at my boots and asked "are those the boots you always drive in?" Oh my gawd again with this crap? Yes I said. I bought these boots when I got the bike! He goes out side, Still no service manager mind you. He gets on the bike. He says "yeah that's a little to low", And drives it around back. I go back in and wait. The wait! I stand there as mad as a hornet. Waiting so I can just go home. A lady at the desk asks me what happened. I told her the same story as I told the man who took my bike around. She looked pissed? I was like good some one that has since! She leaves, And comes back after a minute. She tells me she was gonna lay in to the boys for this, But they stated that the shifter was set to factory? WHAT! I turned around and pointed at the bikes right behind me with there shifters, "Brand new bikes mind you" And said "Those Bike are brand new and there shifters are at least 2 1/2 inches off the foot plate." I even pointed it out to her! She quickly changed her story. I give up reasoning with these people. "My bike is done!' The man from before states as he walks back in. ALONG WITH SMILEY DAVE!.... Gawd this guy is as dumb as a box of rocks. He can never get my name right for one. On top of that he says ah nice new gear?? It's the same gear I walked in with the first time! I quickly left before they would of had to call the cops. Home at last. Well I get home, And as soon as I get off my "High idled Floppy mirrored bike." I see "A OIL DRIP!" You've got to be kidding me! I hit the pavement hard looking under my bike for leaks?! It was oil residue from the oil change? They didn't even clean under my bike when they were done? the oil residue was only coming out from were the oil filter and oil drain plug was. Sigh these guys. Never again. These guys Have no respect for the customer. They like to blame you to cover there own arse. They never answer the phone, And when they do it's not the right guy! The customer is always wrong, They are always right! There a bunch Of lying jerks. Who try and cover there employes mistakes! There never on time! And very unprofessional! Never again will I go there, And I'm telling any one in the putnam county area PLEASE! Don't use these guys. I don't want you to waste you time and money, with these guys! Like I did.
