And Suddenly, it was over (Arrgh!!!) Chicago, Illinois |

Let's talk aesthetics...
For one, it's a real hole-in-the-wall. There's nothing expansive about it, the interior decor is over the top bright...not at all relaxing. Seemed very Andy Warhol-like, busy, distracting etc. The waiting area has floor to ceiling windows with no privacy..it's literally immediately inside the front door to your right, where it's very bright and definitely not relaxing. I found it to be a very invasive setup. You wait for your masseuse (depending on service) to come get you, and while you do, you have to sit there and be noticed by passerbys outside and by other people within the "Spa". I didn't like that. Also, there is no locker room, shower, sauna area. Based on friends' experiences at other Spas, it's no "luxury" for a spa to have a locker room where one can shower/change/throw on a robe etc pre or post service. This place does NOT have one. It's straight from the confined waiting area to the massage table. This felt so cheap...as a guy who rarely at best goes to the spa, I was hoping for a little more. Aren't these things that differentiate a spa from a "happy ending" parlor? Sorry, but really...right?
Now on to the services...
After being brought directly to the massage room from the waiting area (much to my chagrin) I was instructed to take off my clothes and leave them in the corner...if you're going to make me change in the room, at least have a clothes rack/hanger setup for my button-down! But, ok, I went with it and tossed them in a heap. After all, it was a gift. She left the room and once I was prepped under the covers and ready for my massage, she re-entered and my massage began.
It started out...it was more a rubdown than anything. Finally, she did something very strange where she made circles around my cheeks and forehead with her fingertips...it was cool and ticklish for a quick second, but she continued to do it for 5 minutes, which annoyed the hell out of me. And suddenly, it was over. |
