South Bay Expressway Phony Notice of Toll Evasion San Diego, California |
10th of Jul, 2011 by User793998 |
Awful lot of people telling the same story hereThese guys just sent me a letter claiming I owe them $62.50 for a $2.50 toll from three weeks ago. If I dont pony up within another few weeks it goes to $102.50. The letter starts At the time, date, and location above, the vehicle listed did not pay the required toll The location lsited above is 9012-SMR-SB-2. Thanks a lot, very helpful. Ive never even heard of the South Bay Expressway. My city is 125 miles away from San Diego, I havent been down there in years. Yet these guys send me a letter out of the blue telling me to pay up or else. No photo of my car, no proof, not even even a real address of where it occurred, just a demand for payment. Nice. Since the Southbay Expressway seems to be so responsive to complaints (were sorry, but sometime mistakes happen, yada, yada, yada) perhaps you can tell me why someone didnt double-check the photo when my address came up 125 miles from your expressway. Wouldnt that be an obvious clue you made a mistake? I figure its either one out of two things. Perhaps youve outsourced the processing to some pennies-a-day third world country that doesnt know San Diego from San Bernadino from San Francisco (but still has access to our personal information). More likely, you just send out the letters anyways figuring some people will just pay up because its too much trouble to fight city hall. How about a way to fight this online? I have to send you a first class letter to contest it (per your notice). To ensure you dont just toss it in the trash when you get it, I have to send it via registered mail. Are you going to reimburse me for that when it turns out you made a mistake? |

We're sorry to hear about your experience and understand your frustration. We review nearly 3, 000, 000 image transactions each year and we agree that a single mistake is one too many. We do our best to keep errors to a minimum and to continually improve our processes. In the case of mistaken license plate characters, this can all be taken care of with a simple phone call. If a number or letter is misread, it’s simple - just call us and we’ll check the image and transfer the toll to the correct plate. Respond to this post or e-mail us at [email protected] and provide us with the citation number and we’d be happy to research this further. |
