SoundFX Sound FX Sound Effects Stole my deposit - Rude Con Man Owner Warwick, Rhode Island |
28th of Jun, 2011 by User582064 |
Went to SoundFX to have my windows tinted. They came out "ok" but I dropped my Audi A6 4.2 with a little over 1/4 of a tank of fuel the night prior. I inspected the windows and paid the bill which was 260.00. You can get quality tint done for less, but I gave them a chance. My car has a very nice Audi Bose system. Although it does, I admired some high end speakers they had on display. They are between 500-600 just for the speakers then 150 to install. Of course they sound great. I spoke to the man who claims to be the owner about my system. He is one true "salesman" will smooze you in any way possible- and pretty good at it frankly. He went on to show me what system set up would be great for my car and gave me an estimate. Came to $2259.00 Ouch.... I really do like the car and after 30 minutes of group effort "salesmanship" I figured, why not. Its my one luxury item. I gave them a 200.00 deposit and made an appointment for the following week. I jumped into my car to leave. The low fuel tank light beeped right as I puled out onto RT2. I hit the miles to empty button soon after which honestly read 5 MILES TO EMPTY. I had already started on the side roads to head home. What happened to my 1/4 tank of fuel? Knowing a gas station was on the way I continued on. However I didnt make it. The car ran out of fuel. Huge Huge hassle and NOT good for the car. It was 8pm by the time I got home and too pissed to call. The next day I called and said if this is the way you'll treat my car we can forget about the stereo! I demanded my money back. They said you'll have to come back with your card for the refund. When I arrived I didnt say much, I simply handed them my card. They performed a 50/50 combination of blaming the outsourced tint guy (and pure denial). However after another 15 minutes of "smoozing", showing me the shop, telling me how great it would sound and fake kindness I kept the appointment for the next week. Heres the good part...... over the weekend my transmission started to delay its downshift when in overdrive. its got 128,000 miles- I figure my car is worth 6000 bucks being a year 2000. Soooo, being an auto tech prior in life I knew this would cost me over 1800.00 if I need a new one. I called SoundFX and explained my problem and canceled the appointment. The guy on the phone said agreed with my theory. Why but a new stereo in a car with a bad transmission? In addition, my stereo really is fine anyway. I DID CANCEL the appoinment prior to the install date. Today is 6/29/2011 I went back to Soundfx AGAIN with my card for my deposit refund. The so called owner was leaning on the counter sort of looking thru me- When I asked for my deposit he refused. Had a real prick look on his face while he said it also. I repeated my story and he said "NO, YOU SAID YOU"D STILL DO IT WHEN YOU FIX THE CAR" First of all, what happened to the kiss a** I knew before? Second, I didnt speak with him to cancel, it was another store employee. I DID NOT say this. In fact I've decided to get rid of the car. He said you've now got some store credit! As I walked out I said "we will see about this" I asked who the owner was- he said "me" You'll never see someone TURN on you so fast. Folks, please read other reviews posted online about this store. They are similar. So, I guess I was charged 200.00 for putting my name in a book. Screw me and my transmission I guess. Maybe I could tow it to my house and blast it in the driveway? That would be a fine with them! By the time I get done with this place it will cost them 100K to keep my 200 bucks. Scumbags with a smile and act. Whats most interesting is that I'm really wondering if the "lost fuel" goes along with my failing transmission. Cant prove that, but awful strange is all I claim on that matter. I plan to call my Attorney tomorrow as well as the BBB the State Attorney General etc. To clarify one last thing, I am not being 'cheap" its the point. |
