Sonic Cash Advance Harrasment by Sonic Cash Advance Oakland, California |
22nd of May, 2011 by User271019 |
Today Monday May 23, 2011 at 5:09 PM I received a call from a male who said that he works for the Merchant Grace Law Firm in Oakland California. I didn't get his name because he had a very thick accent and I had to keep asking him to repeat and spell the words. He informed me that I am being brought up on charges for not paying back a loan that I took out in 2010 for $637.00. I asked him when did I take this loan out and he said that he could not tell me because I was listed as a criminal and that he can only send the papers to my attorney. I told him that I didn't take a loan out and that he must be mistaken but he knew my SS number, my address and my bank account. I got frustrated and told him that he needed to do what he needs to do. I was advised by him that the Sheriffs office was going to call me in 30 minutes to verify that I was home. How dumb was that statement. So after I got off the phone with him I pulled up the yellow pages on the computer and typed in the law firms name and there was nothing in that name. The address he gave me was 1499 and their was a law firm on 1498 so I called them. They never heard of Merchant Grace Law Firm. After that I looked up the phone number he called from, the number was from Houston Texas. Needless to say I never got a call from the Sheriffs department. Some how these phone calls need to stop and to stop trying to scam people into sending them money. |

I just received a call from these people at my JOB!!! Just now. Says that it was the law office of Attn. Frank Martin. The first person I spoke to had such a huge accent that I couldn't even understand him. He told me that I was a criminal and that I needed to pay back a pay day loan that I never even had or received for Sonic Cash Advance who I've never heard of. He called from 281-763-7911. I so am ordering that ID Lock. This is some crap. He was trying to get me to verify my Social and I wouldn't. He said that we'd be going to court on Monday. Monday is Memorial Day so he'll be there alone. |

I just got a call on my cell phone from the same so-call Merchant Grace law office telling me that I also borrowed some money and did not pay it back. I asked him when did I borrow thw money and how much was it. the caller could not answer my questions and told me I would be served with a subpeona and I would be arrested. He also tried to get me to verify my social security number and banking information. He did have my address, but he kept saying it happened in New York, I haven't lived in New york in ages. People like this should be arrested, for trying to scam people that have used pay day loans just to make ends meet. |

Wow this is crazy, I got a phone call from the same company. They also told me that I received a loan from quick cash loans and I never received anything. These people had all of my information, ssn, address, bank account, im like what the hell. I did some research on them, and called my lawyer. All of these people have these accents, but then again they have american names. I talked to one that have the name kevin park and another one name mary thomas. They are so stupid, don't they think people will do their research on them. They also told me that I owed $864 and if I lose my case I will do 6 mnths n jail. Then they said the police will pick me up tomorrow. Im not going to lie, I was scared at first because I've never been in trouble. These people need to be caught and arrested for fraud. This is the contact info I have for them, 7144000504, called merchant grace law firm out of fulleton, california. |

They are now using the name American Law Firm. They are using the name Jame Brown and they are Indian in descent and are using another number 427-354-3304 |

(714) 276-6091 - Same people here but they sent me a letter, the first time the scammed me out of 300 bucks, without a signature. It was typed up in Word, you could tell and there were no headers and footers like legal documents have and there were no signs of courts or docket numbers or anything. Same dude and different Law Firm name. Name as stated by others was assuredly bogus. I researched them and they are non-existent.
In FACT: (714) 276-6091 was found in the INDIAN CELLULAR REGISTRY if that don't burn your buns... India is supposed to be ally. It is also registered in California. I have never been to India, California and have no open loans with anyone but the federal government direct. I reported them to the Federal Trade Commission and anyone else I could find.
In FACT: even if you did owe a cash loan, they are doing something against the law to represent themselves like Lawyers and yelling at you and threatening you on the phone or in any other way is totally illegal. You could get them fined for that $1, 000 they are trying to fraudulently sneak out of you. |

I received a phone call last week from the Merchant Grace Law Office (714)276-6091, they told me they were calling on behalf of Same Day Cash. My loan was paid off over 6 months ago, and in fact have the email from them stating that is was paid in full and thank you for being such an amazing customer.
Now I'm getting phone calls from State Investigation Bureau, which by the way sounds like the same men from the pevious call (merchant/grace)... They are complete jerks, and threatening me with fines and law suits. I told them go ahead I have proof I paid it off. The next time they call me I'm calling the police and the FBI... They haven't called since, and if they do I will call both. They cannot threaten you, and it's harrassment, call your local PD and FBI and have them allerted. |

These In dians are a bunch of F'in criminals and the California Attorney General needs to get involved. I am not a violent person, but I would love to meet one of these bastards some time and it would not have to be a "dark alley". Everything all of you said is what was said to me. Here's the thing...
1. Its not criminal even if you did not pay on a loan. It's a civil matter.
2. Since it's a civil matter, you must be receive the complaint in a proper manner in which you get 20 days to respond, ask for clarifications, discovery of all documents, etc. Then you could counter sue for misrepresentation, abuse of process, and a host of other things.
3. Any lawyer they claimed to work for, if he was a real person, would be disbarred before he could blink for operating in this matter.
Let's all start calling them and make threats to sue or speak in a strange fake language...Indian folks are very logical with a "Me Tarzan-You Jane" approach to customer service- they can't handle or process illogical improvisational stuff...let's show them what real obnoxiousness is...I know that's immature, but I just can't pass up bothering ass holes.

same here. he was thretening my family. i kept calling them back and bugging them and they blocked my number. then they called back and on my phone. 911 was the caller id. why would 911 call me saying they are a sherif. thats the word they always use is sherif, not police or officer. stupid asses. maybe if we all keep reporting them they wont be able to scam or bug anyone else. cuz this really got my heart racing at first with fear then with anger. -derrel mccoy colorado. |

We rec'd a call from Frank Martin from Merchant Grace Law in Fullerton, CA (714) 242-1252. I am so glad that I opted to check this law firm out, hence finding this "scam" section with everyone's comments on the same. Because we've had some on-line pay-day loans, and because we've included most of those in our BK Plan, I was pretty shocked to find out that for some reason, Mr. Frank indicated we could not include this loan in our plan, he was adamant about sending any paperwork to confirm this past-due loan, and he also did the threatening with the subpoena, warrant, contacting my work, and putting me in jail. I was ready to notify my attorney but now that I realize this is a scam and others are in the same boat with this law firm, I don't feel so alone in just ignoring Frank from this day forward. I will as well report this information to the proper authorities. I agree with M. Shale above ... let's call them and make our threats to sue ... let them know we're on to this scam and maybe they'll get as frightened by us as they tend to do to others.
