Smart Box Storage Did not honor their quote at time of order placement. Denver, Colorado |
22nd of Aug, 2011 by User391480 |
I contacted Smart Box Storage on May 20,2011 to get a quote on storage containers. I was quoted $59.00 a month, one month free rental, free delivery, and a pick up fee of $67.00. I booked for delivery the next day. When the driver got to my home I found the unit to be very small 5x10 (I think) and asked the driver how much would it cost for 1 extra unit. I was told "there is no extra cost it will be the same as I was quoted $59.00 a month, one month free rental, free delivery, and pick up fee of $ 67.00." I asked the driver why so cheap and was told it was a promotion at that time, so I asked him to leave 2 box units instead of the one. He did I loaded them and called for pick up. The driver Danial Garcia came to get the units, when it was time to pay him I asked for a receipt. I was told by Mr. Garcia that "the drivers don't carry receipt books," so I asked him if I could write out a receipt and he sign it was told yes, and he did. Around the first part of July I began calling Smart Box Storage to see what my bill was and got no response. I continued to call and leave messages. Around the end of July I received a email from Linda an employee at Smart Box telling me to read the statement that she had sent in a attachment. I tried to open the attachment and could not. I was rushed to the hospital that night which was on a Friday and was in their all night. I called back the next day but they were closed, so I left a another message telling Linda I could not open the attachment. On Monday Linda called me and told me she would send it again. She did and I was able to open it, but when I looked at it it had a total of $411.20 that I owed. I called back several time left messages, sent emails with no response. I called early August and spoke with Jen who stated "she was the manager and knew nothing of my transactions with this company, and that I would have to talk with Linda." I tried to tell her what the problem was and she kept stating " I would have to talk to Linda." I finally asked who owned the company and could I speak with him/her,. At that point Jen raised her voice and said"he does not handle these issues and would not give me a name or number. I called 1-87smartbox and asked how I could get in touch with their company in Denver. I was told that the rep (Ms. Erma) would send a message to them to contact me. It is now August and I cannot reach anyone in that office. I finally did some research and found out that a Mr. Thomas Wilcox is the owner and has signed up with Tom Martino on Fox 31 as a good member in standing. I don't understand this! If in fact I did not get a free month (which I was quoted) why would they chose not to contact me if I was late on my payment by phone, email, or regular mail. They are a scam and are trying to make me pay more than its worth. |
