Sink or Swim Scuba Deceptively made me pay for custom training the would not supply certificate as promised Gastonia, North Carolina |

I entered Sink or Swim Scuba as a walk in needing specialized training for the business I work for. I was told by Brent Clevenger (the owner) that he did not off that course. I told him my company had located shops in Charlotte that did offer the course and I would go there, I wanted to try the closest shop to my house first. He stopped me and said if I would pay a custom course fee he would write an outline of my course and have it approved, "we would get it done"! My stipulation was I did not have free time I needed it all done in 1 day, that same day in fact. He agreed, I paid him and he had me sign a form for open water training, I told him that wasn't what we agreed to and he said if I decided to come back and get my open water certification I wouldn't have to do anything. I signed, was sent into a room to watch old sea hunt videos, took a quiz and we went to a swimming pool at the hampton inn in Gastonia NC. I went through the whole open water training minus the check dive and he told me to call him the following tuesday and he would have my certificate. The "outline" was never submitted to SDI and when I asked for a refund after 13 wasted hours in 1 day, he pointed to the form I signed that says no refunds. The bank could not help me because it says no refunds, even though the actual certificate, the reason for the training was never delivered. He stated that I missed a bunch of classes and that he closed the store on a Saturday for me and I have never been to this store but once on a Friday for 13 hours! I still plan small claims court, but PLEASE people who want to scuba dive, go to a reputable shop in Charlotte (where I ended up) You do not want dishonest, deceptive people training you when doing something so dangerous. I hope my experience helps many!
