Simply Moving Inc. Simply Moving Faud, Don't trust companies that raise prices on the date of move! Baltimore, Maryland |

I received the estimate for services. The cost was to cover the services of labor and transportation cost for relocating our stuff from a 1 bedroom apartment to our new address. Simply moving employees decide that the total cost for the move is no longer $308.00, that this services cost over $800.00. As I had an issue I called the owner, he failed to fix any problems. I told the movers to leave, as they didn't perform any work for the amount that I was charged by Tom for $191, and $80 as a deposit. Initially while discussing the quote with the company, we were asked if we needed assistance with packing any of the furniture items. We stated everything would be ready by the time the movers arrived, and all they needed to do was to transfer pieces from A to B. When the movers arrived, they were 2 hours late. They walked into the apartment, over looked the furniture and said that furniture needed to be additionally re-packed by them. For each object they would charge “$50 or so per item.†We replied that we were satisfied with our own packing. We didn’t ask and/or need additional packing. The movers started arguing with us. They threatened they wouldn’t move it otherwise and that we had to pay for them to re-pack majority of items. As they were very persistent, it obviously sounded like the way for them to make additional money on the date of the move: we were ready to move, everything was prepared, it totally looked as we had no options. Movers knew exactly what situation we were in and they were constantly saying: “What else are you going to do?â€; “You have no options!†Movers were clearly freighting us that we would lose the money by stating that we signed a contract. When I spoke on the phone about the quote, I was very pleased with the customer service. They seemed to act professional, reasonable and nice while I was searching for moving options. It turned out be real nasty, when after all we said we didn’t need there service, they became rude and raised their voice at my wife. Simply Moving employees were acting unprofessional, inappropriate, making us feel very uncomfortable and frustrated in our own apartment! We couldn’t say a word against their word. As they kept repeating that we were not too smart by not reading the contract and that we were going to lose the money. This is the most disgusting experience we ever had. They had no rights to handle situation in this manner. We want to warn and advise other customers out there, to protect them from going through such terrible experience as we did. It’s a real scam to consumers, as Simply Moving has people sign papers by making the deal sound really attractive. They confuse customers by misrepresenting the information, and then changing terms on the spot when people are limited with their time. While talking to Tom to begin with, AGAIN, he did not say a word that packaging on their end was a MUST, that it was just an option for us to choose. We are intelligent people and if everything was explained properly, there is no way that we would sign up for such expensive service to pay $800 to move a sofa, a bookshelf, tv stand, end table, dresser, a bed, a desk, a coffee table, a lounge chair and 10 boxes. |
