Signet Financial Group Approved Extended Warranty Refund, then quit answering phones Vacaville, California |

I too was duped! I purchased a new 2004 Ford King Ranch Super Duty truck from Willey Ford in Bountiful Utah. The dealership pushed an extended warranty from Ultimate Warranty Corp that had a contract stating that if I never used it during the 7 years or 125,000 miles, my $1899 purchase price would be refunded by Signet Financial. During the 7 years, I paid out-of pocket for repairs to keep my warranty eligible for refund. I purchased the warranty only to save me should I have very expensive repairs which the dealer stated can get really expensive on the diesel engines. I began researching the refund process in mid 2010 in anticipation of my contract end date. I learned that Signet Financial had a reputation for denying claims for any technicality, so I followed the process to the letter. I submitted my Vehicle Service Contract Purchase Price Refund Application on January 8, 2010 via Certified mail. On January 14, 2010 I spoke with Keri at Signet on the phone and she told me that my package had not yet been reviewed. I called again on January 20, 2010 and Keri told me that everything needed had been received and that it should be submitted for check issue by the end of January. She told me that the checks are issued quarterly and to check back if I didn't receive mine in 90 days. I never received a check, and when I tried to call in April 2010, the phone had a message that they were not accepting calls at this time. I had been following postings of Signet Financial and started seeing reports that they were no longer answering their phones just a couple of weeks before it was time for me to call. I did contact my dealer, Willey Ford in Bountiful, Utah and discussed this with them, They said that they had discontinued selling these warranties and had switched to a different provider. I expected that they would take some responsibility and was disappointed that they did not. I will be in the market for a new diesel truck in a few years and will certainly remember this experience! I would like to know if there is any legal action being taken that I can become part of the action and possibly recover at least some of my loss? |
