I was contacted today by a company called " Select Benefits", the man I spoke with told me I had made an online purchase and had won a $100 Visa gift card. He went through the whole pitch about needing to get a confirmation number so that I would be the only person who could use this "gift card". The call went verbatim like this: Scammer: Hello this is Select Benefits, you have been chosen to receive a $100 Visa gift card for making a recent online purchase with your credit card. Me: Great! How do I get the Visa gift card? Scammer: I just need to verify your mailing address is ( read my address ) now in order to get your confirmation number for the Visa gift card I need to verify your 16 digit number on your plastic card and the expiration date please? Me: What do you need my credit card number for if you're sending me a Visa Gift card? Scammer: We need it to verify your mailing address. The first 4 dights verify your name the next 4 digits verify your last name and the next 4 digits verify your mailing address and the last four digits verify the city and stat. Can I please have that 16 digit verificationn number? Me: I need to speak to your supervisor first. Supervisor: Yes ma'am you have been selected to receive a $100 Visa gift card all we need to do is verify your Credit Card number. Me: iIm not going to furnish that information until I can verify who you are. Do you mind if I ring in a third party on the line to verify who you are (local authorities of course) ? Supervisor: Sure do you need the FBI 's number? Me: No I have the number for the FBI in my local area thanks. Where are you located and what is your first and last name? And your number? Supervisor: Select Benefits. You will receive all our information when the Visa gift card comes. Let me verify that 16 digit number. Me: I asked for your name and company contact information. Supervisor: James Macmill , 13922 Fayer Street , East, NY 11212 Me: Alright I will be contacting the local FBI or proper authorities to verify that you are a legitimate company and then I will call you back personally. Supervisor: You can't call this number back. You keep asking all these questions and thinking this is a scam, well I don't want to talk to somebody who thinks this is a scam. He disconnected the call. |

I got the same phone call twice. The scary thing is, he already had my last four digits and expiration date of a brand new card that's only a couple of weeks old. |

I just got a call from a 654-606-5671 number called Select Benefits. His name is Justin Grey, ID 23231, and a 1877-652-2168 number that leads you to Custom Rewards. Justin told me that I won a $500 gift card at Walmart but needed for me to give him my Visa or Master Card number for my bank statement. He told me to call the other number for verfication of his company but they didn't have any clue what I was talking about. Not one of them could speak good English. I honestly believe Justin is a SCAMMER and I blocked his number from my phone. I refuse to give him any information. |
