Safeway Thank you for damaging my body Rocklin, California

Back in July of 2010 i was rushing at work to get this done. This was a normal typical day at work, I would come in work my 4 hours but of course all the work i had to do was for the Employees that had to get it done in 8 hours. So around 5:30pm i was rushing at this point i had no break and couldnt take one because of the work i had to do. If it didnt get done then i would hear about it the next morning. I was heading into the back room to get some packaging and there were some boxes to my left hand side that the morning crew had left for me to pick up, I pretty much had to do a maze and my left foot slipped on these boxes and down i went straight on my lower back. I layed there for a few minutes and i was able to get back up. I went to go try to find a manager but of course no manager on duty. At this point i was hurting but i was able to finish my job. The next morning i had called my asst manager and told her what had happen. When i went into work that afternoon she had asked me if we should file a workmans comp claim. I told her it wasnt nessesary. all the way from July to December it was a constant thing having to do stuff and of course not getting any help and having to clean up after everybody. In December of 2010 2 weeks before christmas i had taken a fall at home off my bed and really hurt my back more. I went to the doctors and they took me out of work for almost 3 weeks. In January 2011 i went back to work and of course things did not change. Back to the same mess. I was only back to work for 5 days when my lower back started giving me problems so on my days off back to the doctors i went. They had done some xrays to make sure nothing was broken and there wasnt. The next day after going to the doctors i was in the shower and all of a sudden my body went numb. I could barely walk at this point. I had to call my mom at work and have her come home because i could not move. I went to the doctors again and they had put me on some medication and it was helping. until the next morning, the pain and numbness had shot down to my legs and again i could barely walk, back to the doctors i went. they seemed it was a pinched nerve so again more medication. at this point i was on 3 types of medication. In febuary i went back to the doctors and he kept me out longer. I told him that the medication was working but i had to stop taking it because it was litterly making me sick to my stomach. So he took me off of of it and gave me something else. 2 weeks after that visit i was walking and my legs gave up, luckly my brother was there behind me to grab me from falling. At this point i hadnt slept in weeks because the pain was so bad so finally my mom had called my doctor and she told him u have to do something about this. I went to the doctors on Febuary 21st and at this point my doctor ordered a MRI 4 days after that i went in for the MRI and by that monday night i was sitting down having dinner with my mom and i get this phone call from my doctor. The first words out of his mouth was "you need to get to the emergency room right now" all that kept running thru my mind was what is going on. He told me that my MRI had shown 2 herniated discs on my L1 and L2. Thats what was causing the pain and numbness in my back and legs. So we went to the emergency room and at that point i had already seen the surgeon he was gonna have to perform surgery by the following day or there was a 90% chance of me being paraylzed. I cried, my mom cried and my brother cried and all that kept running thru my mind was i knew one day that safeway was gonna kill my body. Surgery was performed that tuesday afternoon and i was able to go back home by wednesday morning, I had a follow up appt with my surgeon the next week and he told me he was gonna keep me out of work longer and that i could go back in april. 2 weeks after my surgery i had complications and it landed me back in the hospital for 4 more days. I had a allergic reaction to one of my medications and my scar had got infected because of it. So in april i was released to go back to work with only 1 restrction and that was no lifting anything over 15 pounds. Of course safeway would not accomodate those restrctions. I had asked my boss then if there were any checker positions opened and he said no then i asked him if he could call around other stores and he said i dont have the time but 2 weeks after that phone call i go to work and i see 2 males who had been promoted from CC to checker hmmmmmmmm. I have filed a complaint with the EEOC over that one. It was finally in may my surgeon had told me that the problems i had was months in the making and that safeway was to blame for it. I had gone to work told them i needed to file a workmans comp claim and first words out of my boss mouth was why didnt u do this back in march when u had surgery? hello we didnt know what caused all this. So on June 2nd i get this certified letter from safeway saying that my boss has been trying to contact me. well yeah he tried but he dialed my old phone number and i had giving him my new cell phone number 3 times. Last week i went to kaiser because i was told by Laura from the claims dept that a doctor needed to see me. So i went and i get all the way there and i was refused service that no doctor could see me because my injury happened last year. I fianlly got a threating phone call from her last week saying she didnt understand why no doctor would see me and that i need to call around and try to get a doctor to see me What laura didnt understand was that how i was able to work from july to december with no problems to my back or legs. I finally lost it i told my mom i was going to drop this thing because somehow someway im going to be screwed over. I bust my butt everyday for safeway and this is the thanks i get. I urge everyone who gets injured report it right away i know i should of but in the end i thought i was fine i never thought that this could happen to me!!
