Ryder Truck Rental
Ryder Truck Rental, scam/ Elevated Truck Rental Rates/Loop holes in Contracts St. Louis, Missouri
6th of Jan, 2011 by User406387
Complaint Case #: 1386687 with the Better Business Bureau

Breech of contract involving Ryder Truck Rental Company. Firstly, I was promised a 2005 freight liner (which I paid for contractually)
colombia with 300,000 miles on it. When I went to pick the truckup Ashley told me that the truck that I was promised was leased to someone else, due to his Ryder rental truck breaking down and I was told that as soon as that truck was returned I would switch out from the truck they presented me with which was a 2004 freight liner colombia with 450,000 miles on it. Every other week the truck broke down. I was stranded in TN 1 time due to a broken turbo, and the turn signals went out twice in GA, once in MO and once in OH. These are just a few examples of what happened to the truck. I am a small business and when I cancel loads due to mechanical failure I lose money. In addition to these problems I made the same payments on a 48' foot refrigerated unit which was provided to me until the company could get me a 53' refrigerated unit. They did not ever provide me with the 53' foot. Within the first six months of making $3400.00 payments Ryder started charging my account twice a month for more than $5000.00 a month for the truck rental. When I started questioning them, they said I could not take the truck and refused to give me the keys.

I told the supervisor Kim Wall that I had a delivery to make in OHIO scheduled for 7/10/09 that I had to forfeit due to this delay.

I called the corporation several times and asked to speak to the supervisor of Kim Wall and each time I was told by a customer service representative(female) that Kim Wall was the only person I could talk to regarding this matter. Finally, I was able to speak with a regional manager named Mandy and she said she would ask Kim Wall to speak with my broker to verify that I would be able to consistently pay on thetrucking account as agreed upon by the new verbal contract that charged more money. Mr. Kim Wall insulted my company and my broker by saying that he would only release the truck if they could arrange an inter-corporate agreement with my broker! Unfortunately I was still unable to get the truck in spite of the contract stating that an agreement can only be altered by written amendment signedby both parties. To this day I have not been given my personal things that were in the truck, nor was I given my money back despite of Ryder forfeiting their own contract. Needless to say do not do business with Ryder because they will change the contract on you and withdraw money out of your account without your consent. Their trucks are not reliable, they break down, and Ryder is relentless to small businesses.
