Rustic Mill Diner staff are thieves and liars Cranford, New Jersey

Visited this diner with family one evening. it was late and we were the last customers in the diner. My daughter left her digital camera sitting on the table we were eating at. We left the diner and drove home, approximately 5 minutes away. As soon as we walked in the house, we realized the camera was left behind. Wife immediately called the diner and told the lady at the register what had happened. Right away the lady got defensive and told my wife she 'had an honest staff' and how dare she accuse them of stealing.

Long story short... we called the Cranford police and they met my wife at the diner. I guess the staff got a bit scared when the say the police respond that all of a sudden, one of the waitresses claims to have found the camera in the ladies room. Funny though, since none of us used the bathroom that evening. We were lied to by not only the wait staff but by the disrespectful lady at the register. To make matters worse, we contacted the owners and pointed out what had happened. We wanted them to know that they had crooks working at their business during evening hours. If it were my diner, i'd surely want to know. I guess the owners are ok with what transpired since they pretty much didn't want to hear what happened. It's unfortunate, considering we've been going there for almost 20 years.

Reconsider visiting this place. Or if you do, keep a close eye on your belongings. They have no consideration for their paying customers.

On a side note: As we arrived, there were a group of teens sitting next to us who were just finishing up. We overheard that they did not have enough money to settle the tab and leave a tip. We gave them about 14 dollars to help them out. Turns out, it was that same waitress that decided to rob my daughters camera!! unreal.
