Attended the May 24th Ritchie bros auction online, I was not able to attend in person because I was out of the area on a job interview. I registered to bid online, and felt comfortable doing so after reading there company profile and some personal friends told me they were a good place to buy equipent a fare price During the auction I purchased a flatbed pickup and got it at a great price and it runs great so far. the main reason for attending the auction was to buy a mini excavator. Since I have been unemployed for 4 months I do not have the assets to purchase anything to expensive , so I had a small budget to spend When the Mini excavators came up, I was out bid on all but one, the lot I purchased, when the lot came up they never stated that it did not run or had any problems what so ever, I was obvious to me from the pictures age and hours that it would need some work,etc. when it was deliveried to my house the driver informed me that they could get it started , so they loaded it with a backhoe that was on the auction site. I figured that it was out of fuel or something minor , since Ritchie bros never stated that it wasnt running etc. Well after draging it off the trailer and two days of checking every possible thing that could be wrong with it , it still would not start, plus it was blocking my driveway, so I called a mobil mechanic, he spent about 30 minutes checking it out, he could get it started, turns out that the motors pistons O rings etc are shot, while turning the motor over the Oil fill cap blew off hard enough that it could of caused some damage if your face was closer, after looking closer the oil fill cap had been glued to the valve cover. sorry for the long story, what im really mad about is that it was never stated or written that the item did not run. I spent half of my saving to by this machine so I could start my own little company and try to get out of debt. know this evening im trying to think how can I pay back the money I borrowed , and i still have to pay for a tow truck to pick the machine up. I could use some advices, down and out and dont see how to get out
