Redwood Paper misrepresents themselves to callers in order to gain authorization to ship. Don't be fooled!! Champlain, New York

I received a call from a rep with Redwood Paper asking me to verify a shipping address so they could ship some register paper to our cafe. The way it was presented was clearly designed to make it seem as if they were our regular supplier and had somehow lost our information and just needed to re-verify.
Being new to the role of manager, receiving the call during a busy time of day and not yet savvy to these types of scams I didn't think much of it until later that day when I had time to call our accountant to check up on whether that was the right company.
Of course our accountant had never heard of them and said I should not accept the package.
Fast forward to two weeks later when one of my eager employees opened the package before I could stop them and a few rolls were used...so I called the accountant and they dealt with them from there.
We ended up having to pay them, because they had given us a "discount" (so generous of them!).
The thing that really convinced me they knew what they were talking about when I first spoke to them is that they somehow had done their research and knew what kind of paper we used.
Don't fall for it!!
