RealEstateAgent.com BusinessLocate Inc. The epitome of a scam; deceptive and dishonest. Hollywood, Florida |
10th of Nov, 2011 by User753208 |
On approximately June 26th, 2011, I was contacted by Tiffany from RealEstateAgent.com. She offered me a 3-month promotional service for RealEstateAgent.com to place a link to my website from their website. I was informed that the initial promotion was for three months, and that I would be billed $175 after the initial three month period. During my conversation with Tiffany, I took notes about everything, including the answers to my questions about what I needed to do to cancel. I was told that I would have to cancel 10 days prior to the end of the initial period, so I created a calendar appointment for September 16th, 2011. In that appointment reminder, I wrote down that I was to contact Tiffany at extension 239. At no point during this conversation was I informed that the 10 day notice would have to be given in writing. On September 16th, 2011, I contacted RealEstateAgent.com at approximately 10am and left a message for Tiffany at extension 239. Her voicemail greeting mentioned nothing about being out of the office, or having changed extensions. My voicemail message stated that I wished to cancel my service. Later that afternoon, I attempted contact again, but only reached her voicemail for a second time. On Friday October 7th, I noticed a $175 charge on my bank statement dated September 26th. I contacted RealEstateAgent.com again, and requested to speak to the billing department. At that time, I was informed that my request to cancel should have been made in writing, and that Tiffany had not been at that extension since July, but that she was still checking her voicemail. It is my honest belief, that BusinessLocate Inc. (dba RealEstateAgent.com) is conducting themselves in a deceptive manner by not disclosing the full cancellation terms even when directly asked. I believe that they also deceive their customers by moving the sale representatives to different extensions periodically. This would explain why Tiffany did not change her voicemail greeting, and also why her voicemail would still have been active at that extension a month after she had apparently moved. I made a good faith effort to cancel my service within the terms that were described to me during the initial sales call. My call on September 16th was never returned to inform me of the need to cancel in writing, and I followed the verbal instructions I was given on June 26th. BusinessLocate Inc. and RealEstateAgent.com is your typical deceptive/dishonest companies, who likely have zero customer retention. Therefore, they pray on people with "promotion calls" and purposefully mislead those customers by not disclosing the full terms, even when directly asked. |
