Provo Craft, the maker of the Cricut Expression, lost its billing records and its customers credit card information and then sold the newly unpaid accounts to SKO Brenner, a collection agency. I ordered a Cricut Expression from Provo Craft in 12/08. I chose their payment plan option for the $400+ product. I received my Cricut Expression and they started charging my credit card. On March 15, 2011, years later, I received an email from [email protected], claiming to be Provo Craft, asking me to call 866-441-4729 regarding the Cricut Expression I purchased in December 2008. So I called the number, assuming it had to do with a product recall or satisfaction survey. The person that answered, Carla, quickly told me that I owed Provo Craft over $300 and insisted I pay my bill now. I couldnt believe what I was hearing; quickly realizing I was talking to a collections agency. I told them the product in question was paid for and that Provo Craft deducted payments from my VISA credit card. She told me that they have no record of payment and the full amount was due now. I pulled and reviewed my VISA credit card statements from December 2008 through August 2009. I found that the first three payments were charged by Provo Craft in 12/08, 1/09, & 2/09, followed by a few months of nothing. Then out of the blue another charged in 6/09. In almost 3 years, Provo Craft never called, emailed, or mailed a letter about their billing error, or about any billing problems or balance due. My next course of action was to call Provo Craft directly. I spoke with a Provo Craft representative, Zack Sperry, who told me they have no record of ever charging my credit card. This is when I realized exactly how unorganized and unprofessional the Provo Craft billing department is. I was forced to pull and examine credit card statements from over THREE YEARS AGO in order to prove to them that they charged my credit card. After sending proof of payment to SKO Brenner, the collections agency, I am still receiving harassing calls from them everyday, and Provo Craft refuses to answer or return my calls, as they have sold these accounts to the collections agency, effectively washed their hands of their mistakes and leaving their own customers holding the bag. Provo Craft lost their billing records and rather than admitting the problem and correcting it, they sold all their accounts to a collection agency, SKO Brenner, who is now attempting to collect the full amount, regardless of any payments already made. |
