On Thursday, June 16 2011 I called Phoenix Area Skydive to set an appointment for the following Sunday. I spoke with a (at the time) pleasant lady by the name Kayona. Kayona informed me, that if I cancel my appointment that I will not be able to get back my 18 dollars for the deposit. Okay, understandable. If I cancel, but I won't. So, about 10 minutes after I speak to this lady, a guy named Matt calls me, and tells me that the plans are down and that they are not jumping on Sunday. He said because it was their fault and that it was literally 10 minutes later, that I could receive a refund for the 18 bucks. He said to call Monday if I didn't see any refund in my bank. A little let down but understandable. I did however suspect that the reservation shouldn't have been made in the first place because it was indeed Fathers Day. I couldn't get a hold of anyone on Monday morning, so tried again Tuesday. When I got Kayona on the phone, she was a little rude about the whole situation right from the jump. I informed her, that in fact one of her employees called me and canceled as well as assured me that I would be refunded. Now, 18 bucks doesn't really mean to much to me, but I'm motivated on principal at this point. She refused to let me speak with a superior, and told me to call the news, call a lawyer, whoever I want, but I will not be getting my money back. She told me that her employee shouldn't have told me that, and she couldn't do anything. She told me not to call back and hung up on me. Now, It is my civil duty to not let petty thieves get away with things like this. I did not cancel my own appt. The breakdown is simply this: I PAID 18 DOLLARS FOR A PHONE CALL!!! Thank you Kayona, for being the most uneducated, minimum wage worker I have ever encountered. I ended up spending over 1,000.00 at Skydive Phoenix, and certainly tipped my jumpers well. Thanks to those guys my Fathers Day was still awesome, and we definitely plan to do it again. |
