PC Care 247 dishonest and a complete SCAM! Internet |

I had a computer that crashed and I had used the operations CD from Dell to take the computer to factory settings, which erased all the drivers from the computer as well. The internet, DVD, audio..everything was gone. I have a reputable online technical support company I already use and they told me I needed to go to Dell and get the drivers downloaded to my flashdrive and they would assist me in getting the computer up and running. I had difficulty finding the drivers online so I googled Dell and the number to PC Care came up and I called that number thinking it was Dell tech support. The man I spoke with had a very strong accent (from India) and I had a hard time understanding him. He told me in order to get the drivers I would need to spend $139 because my warranty is expired. I argued with him for about 10 minutes trying to figure out why that would matter if the drivers are available online. Again, he was very hard to understand, and he had me convinced I had to spend the money for a warranty to get the computer up and going (remember, I thought I was speaking with Dell). After giving him my credit card number, he asked me mulitple times if I authorize him to charge and I responded "I guess, if I have to". While they were working on the computer remotely, I noticed the drivers were indeed online available to anyone which made me raise red flags. After the work was done, the computer still did not work, so I had to go online to Dell and get the right drivers on my own! The charge went thru on my bank account and I noticed it was "pc care247" and I called them and asked them "who the heck are you?!?" I had NO IDEA I was speaking with them originally. Apparently, I purchased a year subscription to their online tech support, which I already have. I demanded a refund telling them I had no idea who they were, that I thought they were Dell and that they did not even install the proper drivers on my computer. They told me to call back in 48 hours to give their investigation team time to listen to the original call and they would only refund $60 of the $139...which I told them was NOT good enough they did NOT disclose I was being recorded!) I called them back in 72 hours and they told me the same story, to give them 48 hours to review the phone call. I called again, and no one answered. I called back that night and I had THREE people hang up on me!! I have disputed to charge at my bank and my reputable online tech support company found 6 drivers missing from the laptop that could have crashed the computer. the bank says I have a very good case and more than they will not get to keep a penny of my money. This company is completely WHACK! |
