What brings me to file this report are the various answers I've gotten from the reps at Paypal, and how long I've had to wait for my money after selling an item in an Ebay transaction. I got the money for the item in my Paypal account, but the available balance was $0.00, meaning my funds had been frozen due to what they called infrequent activity. In the course of time between selling the item and getting paid and actually having them finally release the funds, I've been through hell.
The first person I spoke with concerning this matter told me that I would need to either: 1) get the buyer to leave me some positive feedback or 2) Wait three days after shipping the item to the buyer to get my funds released. Never at this time or any other time had I been told about how long it would take to post to my bank.
Paypal was right about one thing. I was and am an infrequent seller. I've only sold two things on Ebay so far. Whenever I have something I want to get rid of, I do like millions of others and put it on Ebay.
Anyway, the second person I spoke with was the night before the item was supposed to be delivered, I asked them what I should do. They told me that if I called up the next day with the delivery confirmation number to prove the item had been delivered, they would be able to release my funds. When I asked them how long it would take for it to post to my account, and I mean bank account, they said rudely, "It should be immediately, ma'am".
I didn't believe them from the word go.
The next day came and the item was shipped. I called Paypal with the delivery confirmation number all in high hopes and high spirits thinking I would get my money, and lo and behold, the third person I spoke with told me that I would have to wait an additional 3-4 business days before I got my money in my bank account. I guess for purposes of getting me off the phone, the lady told me that is just a timeframe for how long it usually takes.
I was livid. I have checked my account literally every hour ever since I was told that, and the funds have not appeared. This has been since Monday night, so if I end up getting the funds tomorrow, then I will have had to wait four additional days indeed; eleven days total after selling the item! Something just didn't seem right; especially after I called my bank to confirm the pending payment, which they said was not anywhere in their database. They also told me that the Paypal transaction would be considered an ACH deposit, and those usually post right away. Wow.
The fourth person I spoke to, which is a manager (I spoke with him just now), sounded foreign, and even though he could be understood a little bit, I still think he sounded like any other foreign scammer out there, and may not have been a manager at all. I had specifically asked for a manager, and to think that Paypal is being run by someone like that, scares me to tell the truth, and might shed some light on why I was treated that way. All he did during the conversation was repeat what the last person had told me, and he said as far as the bank was concerned, it is out of their hands.
Ok, quite understandable. But perhaps maybe you need to train your employees a lot better on company policy, regulations, and principles, because for someone to call the same company, be told 3 or 4 different answers about the same subject, and to be completely given the runaround, is absolutely ridiculous.
I told the manager, whom I could hardly understand, that I would not ever use their services again, and he immediately offered to help then. Or I suppose. He said he would put a notification in his computer to release the funds to me right away. However, I think that he just told me that to get me off of the phone, which is very unprofessional if he was doing that.
My advice to you is #1) Please read this post #2) Make sure that you ask for a manager each and every time you call Paypal to inquire about something, if, indeed you feel you need to use Paypal at all, and boy, let me tell you. You will be doing some waiting if you want to talk to someone in charge. Even after asking to speak only to a manager, the rep tried to take over the case herself. No thank you; not after what I've been through.
I have told several of my friends and family about what I've had to go through with these people, and they just can't believe it, and they swear up and down that they have never once heard of anyone having this much trouble with Paypal. But then again, I guess there's a first time for everything.
This wasn't posted to try to persuade anyone to stop using a service that may have worked for them, but only to report the incident, just in case there are other complaints like this, I can happily add to the lot of them. |
