Patricia and Albrecht Ua Siaghail Aisling Cudo Ua Siaghails run disreputable puppy scam, break commitments, gouge customers Internet

Patricia Ua Siaghail of New Hamburg, Ontario, Canada, who does business as a dog breeder under the name of Aisling Cudo, is refusing to honor her agreement to sign over ownership of Aislingcudo is Roisin Blathin Ruby, the Irish Red and White Irish Setter (IRWS) we bought from her seven years ago. In March 2004, Ua Siaghail persuaded my husband, Matt Czajkowski, to make a 3,000-mile trek to New Hamburg, Ontario to purchase a puppy from her. She repeatedly refused to send a copy of the contract, claiming Internet trouble, but made a verbal agreement. Despite his protest, at the last minute, she said she would be selling a puppy with a hernia, claiming the others didnt have good conformation and knowing our intent to breed and show. She implied shed give a credit of $150 upon hearing surgery cost $325 in the USA. After Matt arrived, however, she changed the sale price from $800 CAD to $800 USDa 25% jump in the priceand then refused to pay for the hernia surgery. The first day of meeting in person, she surprisingly added for the first time that she normally kept the first litter but wouldnt with us, as it was impractical because we lived so far away. She claimed she was giving us a line. Since she would have to remove those words from the contact, the edited document was promised when Matt returned the next day on his way to the airport. However, the next day Pat unexpectedly was not present, and her husband Albrecht delayed presenting the contract for two hours so Matt had no way to speak to Pat about the mistakes. Matt left with the puppy and uncorrected contract, counting on Patricia to make good on her word of honor that the terms would be changed. Matt had to return the rental car without buying gas and still barely caught his flight. Subsequently Matt felt it was safer to communicate with Patricia Ua Siaghail via e-mail, and in June 2004 she explicitly promised him that she would honor the terms that she had agreed upon with him and would remove her name as co-owner. Despite her making frequent mistakes, such as misnaming the puppy on the Canadian Kennel Club contract, failing to enter the puppys correct birthdate, and keeping her name as co-owner, he hoped she would make good on her promises. Also, Pat Ua Siaghail never bothered to get my own signature on a contract, although she knew I was also a co-owner. Since I was privy to the communications between Patricia and Matt, I knew what her contract promises to Matt and me were, and was expecting a contract with the corrected provisions to be sent. No such contract ever arrived, and Ua Siaghail never corrected any of the other errors nor made any effort to complete the contract-signing process. Recently we bred our dog Ruby with an excellent sire provided by and with the guidance of a respected breeder from Modesto, Californiaabout 100 miles from our home. We honored our agreement with Patricia Ua Siaghail by getting the expected health tests and working with a reputable breeder for a mating that would be good for the IRWS breed and line. We also contacted Ua Siaghail in an attempt yet again to get her to honor her promises so that we could AKC register our dog and her puppies. However, not only has Ua Siaghail failed to honor her commitment, she has even attempted to extort thousands more dollars from us. When reminded of our agreement and her promises, she denied making them. When presented with a series of e-mails written by her spelling out the agreement to remove her name, she ignored it and made additional unreasonable demands before shed release our dog. We delivered the original CKC papers for her to sign and she is now ransoming our dogs registration, refusing to sign it as she promised. She has refused to communicate with us by phone or e-mail, nor has she returned the paperwork.
No one should be put through this kind of an ordeal. We would like this ugly mess to be at an end. The Ua Siaghails claim to be champions of the Irish red and white setter breed and to be deeply committed to their lines and the betterment of the breed, but our experience has demonstrated the basic dishonesty and self-serving disreputable business practices that they resort to in attempts to illicitly squeeze money from their victims. They care nothing for breed, but rather intend to run a puppy mill pyramid scheme, in which unwitting puppy buyers produce puppies for them at no cost. The contract they claim is their standard states that buyers of female pups are required to return all but one puppy from the first four litters to the Ua Siaghails, and makes no provision for the Ua Siaghails to pay anything for the considerable expense of birthing and raising the puppies. This constitutes a pyramid scheme in which the Ua Siaghails amass an exponentially larger number of puppies over time, often at no expense to themselves. Supposedly we were not to be held to these obligations since we live 3,000 miles away, and we have Patricia Ua Siaghails own promises to this effect, but she has continually lied and refused to honor her own commitments.
