P C Care 247 Toshiba Warranty service scam, sabotages computers. harrasing phone calls, Located in India / With a new York address for their bank
10th of May, 2011 by User562884
I purchased a new Toshiba lap top and could not figure out how to connect to my wireless modem, after working with service provider, with no success. They told me to contact Toshiba. I am certain that I typed www. toshiba.com, into my browser to get their phone number. the number that I called told me that my computer was out of warranty and I would have to pay for any service that I received. my call was transferred to another department with the man who answered talking so fast I had difficulty understanding him. He was a level five technician Microsoft certified. My computer was infected with a virus, he would remove the the virus and service all three of my computers for three years. Preform maintenance, remove any spy ware or viruses I may encounter. My understanding was that the $899.99 I was charged included hard ware as well as security. After watching him working on two of my computers for an hour and a half I knew that I was getting ripped off. I had given him remote access to my network he went to a website that advertises free software and download two programs SuperAntiSpyware, and Mali-bytes Anti virus and ran both on my computers telling that he had removed the .virus, all that he had removed was tracking cookies. He then wanted me to connect my new laptop to my network with a Ethernet cable I refused telling I would Return it to the store where I bought it, and did not want his services. He became indignant and asked what about the time he working on two of my computers. I asked how much does a level 5 technician make per hour? I responded that I would pay for his time $250.00. this was not satisfactory, and he put his supervisor on the phone we talked for an hour I could hardly get a word in, when I did I had to talk over hin, finally I told him that it was three am here and I was going to call my credit card company and charge back anything they put on my card and hung up. I called the card company and was told that the charge of $899.99 had just been received I asked that block it and close the account, which they did. I then remembered that they had asked for two card numbers and I called Citi Card and told them what had happened and they said PC Care was trying to process $899.99 to my account now, my cellphone rang and it was the supervisor from PC Care telling me how good their services were and I had a three year contract with them. I said I am the phone with Citi cards now telling that I do not need or want your services there a scam. Citi agreed to block the charge and I thought I was through with PC Care 247. Three weeks later at 10:15 pm I get a call from a woman who said she was scheduled to do maintenance on my computers. I asked who she worked for , She responded PC Care 247, I told her I had stopped payment on their contract and had had nothing but trouble with my computers since the worked on then last time. she insisted I had a three year contract and if I would give access to my computers she wold correct any thing that was wrong with them. I refused to give her access and she put her supervisor on the line. I hung up the phone on her three times. I started letting the answer machine get the calls. after five messages I disconnected the phone. Then my cell phone started ringing I let it go to voice mail three times before I turned off my cell phone. When I went to pay my credit card bill with Citi cards it was over a thousand dollars and should have only several hundred dollars .checking further I found PC Care 247 had charged $899.99 to my account the same night they harassed me on the phone. My lap top which the store replaced for me is the only computer I can access my bank account with. my other two computers open browsers without me clicking on a link or shortcut. PC Tools Internet Security is helping me to track down what is wrong with my computer, we know it is a trojen , but have not come up with a way to correct it.
