Caveat Emptor. Buyer beware ... Our company recently decided to consider a dedicated hosting service for our Australian servers, and after some online comparisons found Oz Servers in East Brisbane to be competitive and seemingly efficeint (thats right, there website was nice). So after some comparisons we decided to trial one server with this company and duly provided our credit card details for an order that was to be $ 300 per month. Our card was immediately billed and after nearly three days we had heard nothing. accordingly we advised them by email that as we had heard nothing we intended to cancel the order unless we had a reply to our many emails by cob on that day. We were immediately emailed and told there technical fellow had been trying to speak to our Manager. Whilst this wasnt true we rang the number advised and were asked questions about the operating system we wanted, and we informed them we needed Windows Server 2003 as detailed in the order. They asked if we wanted SQL installed and we noted that as per our order we would be supplying this ourselves as it is integrated into our software platform. The technical manager said this was fine. Shortly afterwards we received an email advising us that this wasnt the case, and that we would have to rent a license off them for $ 330 a month. this is rediculous as the full software license is just $ 1650 a year so we told them we would not be proceeding with the order. We then received an email from Harry Hoholis who is now representing himself as National Sales manager telling us we in fact would be charged $ 440 a month for the license and refused to refund the charge to the card. After sending them a withdrawal of authority to charge my credit card he notified us he intended to draw six months of charges out of that card and intended to ignore the letter we send cancelling this authority. Whilst we will take this matter further, and have done so today, all people should be aware of the unscrupulous nature of this man. I have done some research and discovered this same Harry Hoholis who works for webaccess.com.au , another a company i was warned about by others for the same sort of practices in sucking customers in with cheap offers and then loading all sorts of charges to their account. |
