| Earlier this year I purchased a PR-156 fixture by Orphek Reef Aquarium LED Lighting from . When one of the LEDs burned out causing 1/4th of the unit to become inoperable, I attempted to contact Orphek for repairs, only to find out that Orphek doesn't even have a phone number listed - immediate red flag! I assumed the purchase was safe as Marine Depot is a reputable company, but Orphek supposedly handles their own warranty work...or not. Obviously not having a phone number is completely unprofessional and a giant warning sign, and sure enough, I was right. An email to the company resulted in a 'japanenglish' response that read like it was google translated (badly), I knew I should have done more research before purchasing. Subsequent barely legible emails lead me to realize that Orphek LED Lighting is apparently merely a factory overseas in some asian country, with employees that speak little or no English. They wanted to send me a replacement part, but the parts aren't plug and play. The "replacement part" would mean I would have to work on the circuitry myself, which I obviously was not going to do. However, their supposed customer service rep "Simon" or "Simone" informed me in his "English" (read: google translator) that either I accept the "part" or pay for shipping back to the factory overseas, with a one month turnaround and a possible charge for the shipping. Bottom line: Orphek has no contact information, no representatives to assist their customers, and no "real" base of operations. They are a fly-by-night factory that operates very unprofessionaly and they do not honor their warranty work. If you call them out on it, they refer you to a 20 page "legal" section of their website, which isn't legal at all. DO NOT BUY FROM ORPHEK LED LIGHTING. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. Don't take my word for it - try to ring them up yourself, you'll see what I mean... |

Our warranty & shipping policies are detailed in our website and we have a no return clause. Our company would never ask it’s clients to return a defective unit to China, simply because it is against our policy!
Units purchased in the USA with a valid warranty can be sent (by the original purchaser) to a US address for repair, upon our technical support evaluation and decision. If a defective unit cannot be repaired, and it is under a valid warranty, our company will replace it for a brand new product, free of charge.
Orphek is not a Chinese company; we are proudly an international company spanning many countries and nationalities. We have an online Center for Technical Support, answering to enquires from all over the world, including local support in Canada, USA, Israel, Switzerland, Dubai, Brazil and UK.
Not only that, distributors, retailers and shop owners carrying our products are required to hold a minimum stock of units/parts for replacement if needed. They are also required to provide technical support to their clients in order to answer questions, give guidance and assist in the proper use and maintenance of our units. Our clients are definitely our most important assets, therefore we are 100% committed to their satisfaction.

Our company has a very professional relationship with all distributors and resellers of our products. Marine Depot is not an exception. Not only will continue to carry our products but in fact we have just made a joint promotion of our products (giveaway) and they have just launched our new LED solution the Orphek Nilus. Therefore, this is just one more unverified fact that can be easily proven to be untrue, by simple checking our corporate Facebook page and Marine Depot’s website.
We were never contacted by this supposed client and although we have gathered enough evidence that this is a fictitious persona, with the systematically clear intention to harm our image for his own personal joy or reasons, we are still giving the opportunity to stand forward and really solve this problem, if there was ever one, by contacting [email protected]
Stressing out a bit about this person - it came to our knowledge that he has been posting many other ripoffs report under many fictitious names, trying to mislead consumers and harm our company. Check the link to the first ripoff posted and all the comments of people that are real clients, and what they really think about Orphek Customer Assistance.
Coincidentally the same person using web tools to spread bashing comments - same comments, with different names, but in the same dates. Basher simply takes under consideration that consumers here have no knowledge of these illegal methods.
Also regarding this alleged purchaser, we advise to all consumers evaluating to purchase our products, or ANY other LED lighting product, that anonymous bashing should not be taken under consideration.
Someone who is really not satisfied with a purchase of any kind, and has the good will of helping others, does not hide himself under an anonymous signature. Both Libel and Bashing are considered crimes even when performed via Internet anonymously, and it can be subjected to both Criminal and Civil Lawsuits.

I took it upon myself to look further into the accusations involving Orphek and Marine Depot. This is exactly what Marinedepot.com sent back to me which proves that the reports filed are pure defamation of an AMAZING LED company:

First and foremost, this is not a China based company. From the looks of this report, it's just another bashing on Orphek. Even before I was a customer and had questions the OWNER himself answered every one of my emails personally and gave me nothing but useful, solid information!
Marine Depot would not carry a product they do not stand by, they are a very reputable company with solid customer service, much like Orphek!
Orphek lighting is vastly superior to any and every other LED company out there right now, with specifically designed parts for reef tanks. The numbers don't lie.
It's rare to find a company so devoted to their customers and their products! Orphek is a diamond in the rough and I have never been more satisfied with not only their products but their customer service. It's obvious to me this person did not even try to get a hold of Orphek. Orphek is, hands down, one of the best companies I've ever conversed with! I recommend these to anyone who is looking for a light that promotes growth and color! |

We have been carrying the Orphek line of products in the Middle East and we have some very finicky customers. Happy to say that they are all very happy with their purchases and keep calling or mailing back to let me know how well their corals responded. Several have mentioned that in a matter of 3-4 days previous browned out corals were turning blue or purple again under the Orpheks.
Customer service is very good and reaching out to the company representatives have never been an issue.
Just do a google search for Orphek and read any marine aquarium forums threads to know that the product is a great one. |
