One and One 1 + 1 A complaint against the poor telephone/internet service 56410 Montabaur, Germany |

I wish to warn any consumers against using One and One (Eins und Eins) as their telephone or internet provider in Germany. I am an American citizen and resident of Germany for more than ten years. The poor service of One and One is not a secret to many local residents in Germany, but I wish to share this information to all members connected to the US military and all other English speakers in the country for that matter. Looking on Google I have found plenty of complaints in the German language, but it looks I may be the first to share this in the English language for Germany. I got One and One "Eins und Eins" for my telephone and internet in early 2008. For over a year there were no issues. On more than one occasion, tow years later, I came back from holiday and my service was out and had to call from a neighbor's phone to get it back. Starting in November 2011 I noticed my phone calls were being disrupted and a month later my internet was sporatically dropping as well. I called the company and nothing was done. By January 2012 I gave up and tried to get another provider, but was locked in for another year by an automatic renewal of the contract; it is daunting enough to see in the fine print in German, let alone English. After sending a formal letter I was paid back for lack of service for four months and the service worked without incedent till later in the summer. I complained again to One and One and they told me to call them back with my Mobile (cell) phone, which I did not own at that time. This was their insisted method of repair, although not in the contract, and they asked me to borrow one from a neighbor. I finally got a mobile phone that I would at least have a means of calling. It turns out that the problem may have also been on the "Fritzbox" modem. A rep told me that my Fritz box was old and was likely the reason, but I would have to buy a new one. My complaint lies on the matter that if they knew it was old, why did they not send me a new one when automatically extending my contract period? There are enough complaints relating mine on the web in German. I want to tell the world my situation so One and One gets their money's worth for not allowing me to get another provider. I have a new provider now and have learned my lesson. I hope this reaches someone that they not have to endure this costly bureaucracy.
