OM Software (Bhopal, India) owned by Raj Kamal should not be trusted with any project. I hired them to create a website for me and paid them USD$1,500 to get started on a USD$3,000 project. They pulled out of the project before it was completed and refuse to refund me the USD$1,500 as per the terms of our agreement. OM Software responded to our detailed Request for Proposals (RFP), and won the contract to create our website. OM Software's Project Manager started sending me their first attempts, but these were not acceptable at all: it was like they were not experienced in developing large websites. For example: (1) They were suggesting drop-down boxes for fields that would contain tens of thousands of entries. (2) Their design did not remotely follow the layout as detailed in the RFP, such that their version of the search requests page would have shown tens of thousands of records on a single web page. I attempted to get them to correct these flaws, and they corrected some of them but not others. For example: (1) They suggested that the drop-down boxes could include a type-ahead feature--still not very useful when there are tens of thousands of entries and the user is not sure what entry they are looking for. (2) They did re-design the search results page so that results could be handled better. With the deadline of mid-July approaching and after very little progress was made, the Project Manager, Sourabh Rawat, calmly informed me that the project would go past the deadline by 2 weeks because of a lack of programmers at OM Software. This was not a request to me, and showed that they had little respect for me, my project or the project deadline. Their communication is terrible: no replies, missed meetings, etc. I wanted an explanation from OM Software's owner (Raj Kamal) about why the Project Manager (Sourabh Rawat) was not communicating with me and Raj said in a Skype chat: "the only problem is he has not cared". I have this documented if anyone wants to see it. There were several more delays, terrible designs/layouts that didn't follow the RFP, pages that didn't function at all, no Quality Assurance, and a lack of communication from the PM Sourabh Rawat. OM Software was a couple of months past the deadline at this point, I was not getting anywhere presenting my problems to the Project Manager, Sourabh Rawat, so I tried talking to OM Software's owner Raj Kamal again, but he told me that I was complaining too much, and that they could not go on with the project. The contract we signed allowed for Raj to pull out of the project before completion, but he would have to return the USD$1,500 to me. They did not deliver any code to me, and I am left with nothing. I tried to be fair and extend Raj Kamal and OM Software as much help and patience and time as possible, but I got ripped off by them in the end. Eventually Raj promised that he would refund as per the contract, but after many months we have only received USD$99, and I am unsure if he will be refunding me any further. I am fair and open, and if Raj Kamal/OM Software refund me any further, I will post it here. In the meantime, I will continue posting this in all relevant websites to warn the public of the dangers of doing business with Raj Kamal/OM Software. |
