Nordyne Frigidare HVAC Nordyne will not pay for service on their defective equipment O'Fallon, Missouri |

We bought a Frigidaire heat pump & air handler on 11 Aug 2008. On 24 June 2009 the evaporator coil was replaced because of a leak. On 22 Dec 2009 the evaportator coil was replaced again because of a leak. On 14 Jan 2010 the outside condenser unit was replaced. Now the evaporator coil will have to be replaced for the third time because of a leak. This is three bad coils in less than 3 years. I called Nordyne Customer Service and got the usual brush off. They won't pay for any of the service because I didn't buy a labor warranty. I feel they should be responsible for paying for an obviously defective product. So far I have had to pay $468 for service calls. I am facing a charge of $180 for the latest call plus whatever else I will have to pay when they come to replace the coil. |

We continue have similar problems with Nordyne units sold under the Gibson name. In our case, it is leaky A-coils. We purchased our home in Dec-2007 and since then have replaced coils twice. I suspect a third replacement is required now, as the house is 90+ degrees inside while the Gibson is running full tilt and I am typing this message.
If you go to their website you will note that there is no email address for customer service. The reason for this is, they do not want documentation trails established covering customer service issues about their terrible products.
Furthermore, when I try to verify Warranty on the installed units, the response I get to that inquiry is: "Invalid Serial Number" even though the numbers entered are exact copies of what appears on the unit name plates. It is obvious what the intent here is.
If you are contemplating replacing your HVAC system, avoid the Nordyne products as if they had the plague. If you are building a new home, make sure the general contractor does not install this garbage there as well. |
