This dr. gives anesthetic injections for neuropathy. She said they are perfectly safe and there are no side effects after going three times i felt disoriented and confused, i couldn't remember simple things, i had constant anxiety and headaches. i didn't attribute it to the injections and thought it would pass. After three more visits my left leg swelled and I had no feeling at all, it got better after 12 hours. At the next visit I wouldn't let her inject my left leg, she did the right leg and the same thing happened only worse I thought paralysis set in. it got better but my right leg aches. Each time she said it wasn't from the injections that i had a vascular problem and needed attention. After each leg swelling I called there , left messages for her to call me, she never did. I went to my doctor, i told him the whole story he examined me and said i didn't have a vascular problem, I had a severe toxic reaction to the injections and besides the memory loss, anxiety, and headaches I could've had a heart attack. He also told me he sees those big newspaper ads promising a cure and they are scams. I learned the hard way. I called her the next day, left a message for her to call me because she needed to know what my doctor said. She never returned my call. My doctor said anesthetic injections always have side effects, some can be fatal. |

Reason for visit:
Neuropathy- tingling toes and shooting pains
In my case-
Courtesy and scheduling- 1 star
The office has a disorganized scheduling system- Just because you have a 9am appointment doesn't mean 4 others don't. It's more like 1st come 1st serve per appointment time. The staff does not greet you when you come in- They know you're there, but you are ignored unless you start the conversation. Eventually they will call your name.
Effectiveness- 3 star
Does it work? After 15 or so treatments- the shooting pains have subsided a little, but the numbness and tingles has not effectively improved. No side effects, but the anesthetic injections do make it so you drive home or to work with temporarily numb feet. This treatment seems more like an experiment in progress- they will tell you up front, "this is not a cure."
For the money- 2 star
There is not a whole lot of qualifying. They don't comb over your foot and try to analyze what's going on. No blood tests or calls to your primary doctor. If you show up, they will start treating you as long as you have insurance. I understand that doctors spend a lot of money to go to school and know what they know, but for a brief consultation and 3 anesthetic injections per foot (10-15 minutes), then they hook you up to a machine for 15 minutes- they really hit the insurance co. pocket books.
Privacy- 1 star
It’s a small office environment. Anybody in the waiting room can hear you when you need to schedule an appointment or discuss your bill regarding your treatment. Okay, so just about anybody there is there for the same treatment- Regardless- You have an audience on anything you need to discuss (outside of the treatment room).
Sanitation- Zero
The Assistants go from patient to patient without washing their hands. Ice packs (part of the pre-treatment) are carried on the assistant’s shoulders (touching their necks), fall on the carpeted floor, then get strapped to your ankles. I don’t know what time they vacuum the carpets, but they were not clean during the time of day when I was scheduled. Some ceiling tiles have water marks. I’m not saying the roof leaks, but it’s a sign that moisture was there- a real doctor would be worried about mold- not the cost of a $15 drop ceiling tile.
Equipment- 2 stars
I don’t know if some are machines are newer than the others or what, but the effectiveness from machine to machine varies. Granted- all the machines work, but the results per scheduled treatment are not consistent. |
